I read too much!

So, roughly a week from joining WA... My progress was not as I expected.

I'm taking way to looooong on each lesson as I want to make sure I understand everything, but then that is not really the problem... The problem is that I love reading.

Don't get me wrong, I do believe that reading is the way forward and books are the best thing in the world! But...

Here in WA the too much reading is setting me back in a way.

I explain... Every time I learn something new in one of the lessons, what do I do?, yes, I google it..... Google is my best friend and worse enemy at the moment as during this process I'm loosing a crazy amount of time chasing bit of information, that then leads to something else, that leads to other something.

So I started to feel frustrated as all this time I could be dedicating it to build my website.

Is anyone dealing with this problem as well????

I hope to make another post soon on how I am dealing with my google/reading addiction!

Love,

Sofia

Hi Sofia, sure we all do that. Especially those of us that want to know everything now! lol
I feel ya, and you got some great responses.
The one thing that helps me is something I got in my schooling..
If we want to study something lets say in a lesson. Think about going over it three times..
First lightly scan over it, keep the mind at ease.
Second, go over it again and find the main points.
Then go back over it, the mind will then know how to categorize the info and retain it longer.
Do i do this all the time? no lol..
But i believe we all need to give ourselves time to learn, and the mind will retain more when its at ease.
To your success! ;)

Don't let it get you frustrated Sofia.

I understand totally, and I learned to go at a pace that 1) I grasp the teaching, 2) I apply it as I go along 3) stick with the pace you are comfortable with. As far as googling, LOL, I think we all do that to some extent more than we need to, but perhaps taking notes as you learn, and then do your google reading at a later time. Focus on the lesson at hand.

Another problem of mine is attention span, so I go back and review often.

I think you are doing just fine. One step at a time :)
My best to you
Jim

Thank you Jim!!! :D already have my notebook ready on my side! Will go for paper now instead of google! :D let's see if it works better!

Sounds like a solid plan dear! I will take my own advice also :)
Have a splendid day!

Ha ha. You're like me. I love reading and I do love Google too. And yes one thing can lead to another, like a link in one website will take me to another website and so on. And that goes for You Tube too. I have to be conscious of my time so I don't end up spending too much time and have to remind myself what I really need to focus on. It's good you are taking the time to understand the lessons here in WA. That's what I'm doing too. I haven't built a website yet because that's the easy part for me. The hard part and the more important part, as far as I am concerned is finding the right niche, learning about keywords and then a good domain name. Of course, eventually one has to take action. That makes the cycle complete, learning and then taking action. I'm sure you'll do very well.

Thank you for your words :) I'm sure you will do just fine! It seems like you have a plan with set goals, that always helps. I'm trying to keep to my plan now, and trying not to get distracted so much.

Yes! Distraction is an ongoing battle for me too. You have a good idea to just write a blog about your situation. Depending on your choice of a niche it may be relevant, or you can make it relevant, then at least, you are getting content onto your website.
I wrote a blog about that myself a little while back. It will get easier, and once you dig your heels in it will all make sense.

Hey Sofia. I suffer from the same problem. Add short attention span to that, and it's really a mess. I'm all over the place. Maybe making a schedule will help. Every Monday, Wednesday, & Friday, you write content. The rest of the week you do lessons and get lost on Google.

Or do lessons, write down along the way, what you want to Google, and set a time for just Googling. Scheduling is key though. You'll need to do that anyway once your site starts bringing in visitors and you get sales, etc. Make a schedule and tweak it along the way.

All the best!
Stephen

Thank you for your advice! Really appreciated! :D working on doing that just now :D
