Don't give up!
It can be so hard sometimes owning your own website and continuously trying to find new content to write. I know I have had writers block many times. Sometimes my thoughts get in the way of my hands and they don't correspond accordingly. If that makes any sense lol
What has helped me to unblock my mind.
- Going outside and getting some fresh air for a little bit.
- Going for a walk or having lunch with a family member or friend. I find this one the most rewarding. I gently just bring up topics that I have been thinking about writing and they give their input without me even asking them. When I get home I write down everything!!
- If I start to lose focus on the topic I am writing about. I will go do the dishes, fold some laundry, bake something or cook something and just distract my mind from blogging. This Helps tremendously!
- I have about 20 note books and each and every one of them are filled with basically, diary entries. When I go back and read them after they have been sitting for a while, I get so many ideas again that I forgot I had in the first place.
- Lately when I'm out and about around my little town. I try to gently again bring up what my site is about (just little hints) people can get turned off immediately if you just talk about "you" and what "you" are doing. Make it about them!
For instance: I have a food/recipe website with tips and tricks for cooking and baking. Anywho, I went to a local bargain center to get some cooking supplies and these two ladies that own the place were checking me out, they were so nice. These ladies inquired why I was buying cookie cutters, pans, sifter etc...So I briefly told them. They had a tablet right there with them and immediately went to my site! Now I am getting a bigger following and they suggested that i start making sweet treats to sell at their store! Wow!
- Word of mouth is key if you really want to succeed! Get out there and mingle a little bit. By the way...I am usually shy at first until I get to know you. So this was a little difficult for me but once you get use to meeting new people in person it becomes a lot easier. Now I can't shut up lol
I hope this was a bit insightful for all of you who are struggling at the moment. Don't give up! Try your hardest and step out of your comfort zone, think outside the box a bit and put forth the effort.
I wish you nothing but the best!!! Cheers!

Being shy is a state of mind and you look like you are well on the way to overcoming it. And getting feedback or casual information from people is great. A good example over here is comedian Barry Humphries whose character "Dame Edna Everage" got some of her stuff by Barry sitting in pubs, cafes etc. and listening to people around him. (It happened to someone I knew!)
Hey there Helen,
It's such a great way to get so many ideas! Shyness is a state of mind yes it has to do with boundaries and such...I love to just sit and listen. It's amazing the things you hear.
I get writer's block too, I think we all do at some point. I also go for walks or just sit outside and watch what's going on around me. Taking a break, like doing the dishes or other mundane things really helps your mind just wander.
That's awesome about them wanting to put some of your products in the store! Great advertisement and pretty cheap, isn't it?
Thanks for sharing, Mary!
Hello Jean! :-)
This is so cheesy but... in the summer I can sit and watch birds all day. We get so many different kinds where I live. It's so relaxing!
It is amazing isn't it? That was my ultimate goal. I eventually want to own a my own shop right here in my little town. There are no bake shops around me unless you want to drive 20 miles! So yeah super excited about this opportunity!
We haven't sat down and talked about pricing much but I figured it out to be fairly cheap so it won't be a big deal. :-)
You're welcome hun!

Really a good post and it touches on remedies that are worth trying. It brought to mind a show I was watching with Dr. Oz on TV. He had the "Skinny Lady" on there talking about her rise to become a health guru for many out there struggling with weight and person growth issues. Dr. Oz held up a picture of the "Skinny Lady" when she started 10 years ago. He asked what she would tell herself if she was about to talk to herself at the beginning. She said, "that it doesn't have to all come in a perfect box". I think a lot of times people think this on some level and if we can't get it perfect the first time then we give up, try again later or just go on to something else. I've been guilty of this and let the effort it would take scare me away thinking there has to be something else that will make me happy when what will make me happiest is to complete something. I notice through out the WAU there are hints of this; "Just take action" is a prime example of Kyle and Carson trying to put the bug in our head. Well good luck with your online career.
Definitely! Whoever said perfect was achievable is a liar. Success is achievable only through the effort you put into it. If you sit around waiting for it to happen, you will be sadly mistaken.
I procrastinate a lot so I have to constantly write notes and read motivational blogs and watch videos and such...
Kyle and Carson are on to something when they say "Just take Action". The only way to get a reaction is to take action.
Good Luck to you too my friend...Take Care.
