At a Crossroads

Hello Everyone. I am slightly confused and not sure if I am posting this in the right place. I am voicing my opinion and not sure if it should be a blog or go under questions so I decided to put it in a blog if I am wrong I apologise.

I am slightly confused and am at a crossroads with no signpost and do not know which way to go. I am on the Online Entrepreneur Certification lesson 3 and 4 about affiliate links and adding them to my site, adding the links is not the problem I think it might be my niche (again not sure). You see my niche is jewellery and lesson 3 of course 3 tells us that goggle does not like too many links on a site and not on many of your pages either. As you can imagine with my site I will have 4 pages of product at least. There will be a page for rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings on my site now for my problem.

Say I am an affiliate of jeweller X and we will use rings for this exercise. I go to X and get a product which is a ring, upload to my site all is fine and I create a link for that ring. My problem is that X will have a hundred rings on his site really what I want to know is that if I create a link to this ring (remember he has 100 more on his site) according to the training goggle will not rank me if I put a link to all X’s rings. If I link to just one ring and a visitor clicks that link and lands on the product, he then see the site he is on and decides that another ring is nicer and buys that. Will I get the credit for the sale, I do not think so maybe I am wrong not sure. The same will apply to necklaces, bracelets and earrings so that will need hundreds of links on my site.

I notice that on most other sites the tendency seems to be about 3 products on promotion but I do not think that will work with my niche. So now to the crossroad do I scrap my site and niche and build a new one or what do I do.

I hope I am making sense and that you all understand what I am trying to say (still love it here) and this is only a small setback and I suppose the first of many.

I would appreciate your input and comments on this maybe there is a way around it but I have not come across it and by nature I am fairly uniform and am stuck on lesson 3 and 4 of course 3 and before going on would like to know are my concerns valid.

I actually heard that if anyone uses your link and goes to Amazon for example you get credit for whatever they buy even if it's not what you were promoting. I would think it would be the same way for whichever jewellery company you are affiliated with. You should definitely look into that some more, if I remember where I heard that I will send you the link.

Thanks Marlon I do not know enough about it. If you do remember where you seen it let me know please. As we say here (Ireland) drive on and stay out of the ditches.

I am not an expert in this matter by any means as I am new here, but based on everything I have learned, you are correct and this is kind of a problem. It is a bit more work, but I would write a review on the type of ring it is by classification of some sort (i.e. white gold, diamond, etc.) and then have links to the pictures of the rings and the affiliate links on a separate page (where you could put all of them on one page that you don't care if it is rated or not). I would have header titles on the page with the links based on how you classified it so that they don't get confused when they go to the new page. If there are a ton of rings or necklaces, I would also limit the number of rings or necklaces on the affiliate link page so it doesn't take too long for them to find the ring or necklace they are looking for.

Thanks David there is probably lessons down the road on this. But at a guess I would say max 4 or 5 items per page would be right. Thanks for taking the time to read and reply.

You're welcome. A max of 4 or 5 affiliate links on a page, but you can put as many as you want if you don't care if the page is ranked or not. The idea is put all of the affiliate links on a page that you don't care if it is ranked or not... I am not sure that is in the lesson...
