Ever just want to start over?

I'm still working on my first website, but I'm at a point where I am thinking about throwing it all away and starting over. Now that I know a little bit more about what I am doing, I feel like I could really do it better the next time around...

I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I am constantly criticizing my own work. Probably more than I should. I'm so critical of my work sometimes that I seem to have trouble differentiating between the reality of my work actually needing improvement, and the delusion that everything I create needs improvement... I'm sure there is at least one person out there who can relate to my struggle.

I guess what I'm getting at with all of this is...

Has anyone else ever been in my same position?

Is it better to start fresh, and try again?

or should I just ride this website out, and see where things end up?

Thoughts, personal experiences, heated debate... All welcome.

Thanks everyone!

I feel it is a personal choice with this! I would prefer to modify my existing sites, rather thN start from the beginning. It comes down to how your feeling about your sites and whether you feel you need to start from scratch again or not.
I don't think it is necessary, as with a few modifications you can can get your site to the level that you wish it to be!
Hope I have helped somewhat, regards, Lisa

That definitely helps. Really anything outside of the realm of my own perspective is helpful. I am just trying to gain other people's input, because I know that I am a newbie, and chances are that someone else has already been in this same situation that I am facing. Thank you very much.

I completely understand the struggle!

I have had to overcome my obsession to not do anything unless it is perfect. The truth is, perfection doesn't exist, it's all in our mind.

If you constantly stop yourself cause something isn't perfect then you are just on a merry go round, and never actually get anywhere.

When I first started thinking about working online, I didnt' even know there was such thing as making money online, or being a 'professional blogger'. I met this lady who became a friend and she introduced the concept to me as this was what she was wanting to do.

A few years later i thought i would have a go, and i asked her advice.
She said 'The ONE piece of advice i could give you is to stick to what you start!'

she chopped and changed her websites searching for perfection, and she said, if i had just have stuck to that original blog, I'd be making heaps of money by now.

when we stop and start new online, your just going way back down in the wait line to get recognised on the big interweb!!!

I have done a lot of self help work, for myself, and a bit with others and a theme that often comes up with people is that they don't persevere.

Perfectionism does not exist, just keep going!!! And you can always tweak and modify things along the way, or build another website in addition. But I would highly recommend working on the need to be perfect! We live in an imperfect world. the people who do really well and succeed often say they just started anyway and kept going.

Woh, sorry for the lengthy reply. I got really carried away!!

No problem, I love long replies! I do do "twitter" or "instagram" or any of that, so these short replies that everyone has become used to drives me absolutely nuts... So, seriously, thank you for taking the time to give me a genuine response to what I was asking.

I am extremely "OCD" about things, and I have definitely struggled with the "is it better to not finish, aiming for perfection? or is it better to finish something, and have it be imperfect?" struggle my entire life... This was exactly what I needed to hear. That's why I reached out to the community, I had a feeling there were others out there like me, who knew the struggle.

I think I will stick with it. I think I'll see it through after all. And then if I don't like it... Then I'll just build another one.

Who knows... Maybe what I hate, someone else will love, right?

Thanks again! Great advice.

EXACTLY!!! We are our own worst critics, and usually what we think is crap, others can't believe how good it is :)

If you want to learn how to re-program some of those limiting beliefs about perfectionism check out Faster EFT.

It has helped me ALOT. And that is an understatement. It helped me move through a whole ton of limiting ideas, beliefs and programs I had about myself, and my ability to do....well....anything

You can google it, or I have some stuff about it on my site.

Just don't judge my site....its far from perfect ;)

Keep going :)
