More affiliate sales!

I'm making headway! My last post was about how I made my first affiliate sale on my gardening blog. It was a very small amount but I was over the moon! I know that if I made that one small sale, more sales would be possible.

Well, I can update you now and confirm that affiliate marketing does work! I have now had more sales for the same affiliate link!

So I just want to post this to encourage everybody who is just starting out. If I can do this, so can you!

I use affiliate programs like Awin, Webgains, Amazon and other independent programs. The one I have been successful with is Webgains and all my sales were from a popular UK gardening website that I linked to on my sidebar. So these sales have not come from links in posts but simply just for having a colorful advert on the sidebar.

Can any lessons be gained from this? I think that it helps when you are advertising a well-known brand. This particular advert is for a well-known and respected gardening website. They are a bit expensive compared to others and I didn't think I would get much interest, but it just goes to show that we can never just assume things.

My advice is to try different programs, and put some of these links on your sidebar (if your blog has one). You never know, it's worth trying different things and seeing what results you can get.

Try different programs too. I'm not having much luck with Amazon at the moment, but I'm not too worried because they don't seem to have very good commission rates and there are so many other affiliate programs out there.

I'm quite encouraged by all this and have started another blog in the meantime, so that makes 3 now! I think I'll stick with this number for now and concentrate on writing content as there is really no better way to increase traffic and interest in your blog than to add content.

I just wish there were more hours in the day!
