Writing from the Heart Wins Through in the Long Game

Writing from the heart is absolutely vital if you want not only your content to be convincing but also if you want your website to be more than just a flash in the pan start-up site that dies off as fast as start as your interest in the topic dwindles. Or do you want your website to be still going strong ina years time, 5 years, 10 years time? Then creating genuine content from the heart is a must.

My First Site

When I first started creating websites around 15 years ago, the very first site I made and threw myself into was a project that was dear to me. It was a music sharing blog. I wasnt even tinking of the money I could make. In fac, the whole ethic of the site was that it was completely Free.

It was at the time in effect a kinda pro-active protest site stroke Antagonistic Site aimed at the sinister and underhand manouvres going on at the time between the Hollywood and Mssic Industry Tycoons and corrupt members of the European Government concerning the problem they faced with File Sharing and The Piratebay website, which at the time they had traced to Swedish Servers and arrested a piratebay host and held him on trumped up charges of theft. All he was actually doing in fact, was hosting a program that allowed peers, just lie you and I to share files with each other whatever that may be. It could be personal records, photos or important documents as well as a Music Album or Movie.

So as soon as the server in Sweden was closed, another 10 sprung up that morning all over the world.

This gave the message loud and clear that this was a technology feat that they were never gonna beat. As long as they keep closing Piratebay, another load of servers would continue to spring up. I was happy to get aboard this push to keep filesharing and the sharing of each others enjoyment of music. So I would upload as much of my own music collection as I could keep up with as I was downloading a lot of shared music at the time too.

My point is that it was fun and had an eithic that meant something to me. That same website, although slihtly different nowadays, is still in existence. Not only that, but it's still going strong after alost 15 years.

My Last Site

Similar to my first ever website, my latest web Invention is a Personal Blog documenting my own personal journey of self discovery and Transition from Male to Female. Being Transgender is a discovery I only made about 10 weeks ago after some deep research and feel an obligation to carry on the work of educating people to some of the many issues Transgender people have faced throughout history and Today.

I get a similar kind of feeling with this website as I did all those years ago with the music site and the same kinda fire is there. Of course, as before, monetisation of the site is not the priority, although I can think of various angles I could try out as time goes on. But the main purpose of me building this site is completely from the heart. So this not my main site I use for affiliate marketing, yet when i write i write with much moe keenness and passsion than I do with the content i create solely with a view to earning.

Write from the Heart

Obviously though, as much as Pro Bono work we do may mean a lot to us, we all need to earn to live, but if you can do so whilst writng about something that is dear to you and you really enjoy, then you have won the watch I think.

But I think whether you are writing as a hobby or as your main source of Income, choosing a Niche that has a special connection with you can be what makes or breaks your website.

Very true words here, my friend!

Jeff

Totally agree. If you do like or aren’t passionate about your niche, the first year might’ve ok but year 5 you will be struggling.
Great post

Creating content you're passionate about always shines through. My passion is cats and what my first website here is based on. Wishing you all the best on your transgender journey, Kathy

Thanks Kat. It's very true that if you work at something you love, you never really "work" at all.

Most definitely. The great thing about it too is that everyone has something they are passionate about. So if we could all just find what suits us best, then there's nothing to stop us all earning a crust by helping each other out; in effect.
