Why I Grew Alligator Skin
First of all I want to thank Steph Hill and EKautz for the inspiration to write this post.

Sports Blog Therapy
I have had a lifelong love for sports. Over a year and a half ago I joined a local hockey newspaper sports blog to interact with like-minded enthusiasts and take my mind off of my families health issues at the time. My, my, my did I get a big surprise of my life.
Just The Good Ole Boys
I quickly began to understand there was a good old boys network on this blog run by a PR guy from the local hockey team. And they sure didn't like any opinions that were different from their own.
Character Assassination By Committee
I was one of those posters who had an opposing opinion because I didn't like the direction the team was heading. Mr. PR guy didn't take this too well. He resorted to what was to be his modus operandi tactic and that was character assassination by committee. After one of my disagreeable posts, he would typically counter with a long vitriolic and condescending rant. I would then rebuttal back. Next he would proceed to pull out his puppet strings and unleash his minions of doom.Their sycophantic purpose was to attempt to justify boss man's opinions. They would use this tactic on any and all opposing viewpoints. Thus, the majority of posters on my side of the tracks made an exit stage right rather than stay on this blog and take the abuse.
Too Stubborn To Be Intimidated
I have never been someone to take to intimidation. I absolutely abhor it.The only alternative was to grow thick skin or alligator skin to be exact. There are ways to counter the negativity. Humor if used tactfully can be a very good remedy. However, it can also backfire and infuriate the poster if they feel they are being made fun of. IMO the best thing to do is to just shake it off and walk away. It really means nothing. Everybody has opinions and assumptions and you know what they say about assumptions. The fact is sometime in everyone's affiliate marketing career they will come across mean and nasty people. It is how you choose to handle these encounters that will make you or break you.I still post on that hockey blog from time to time. Maybe I am a glutton for punishment or I just refuse to be broken by nasty people.

Bill,
That is the wonderful thing about WA. It doesn't subscribe to the cliquish mentality. The people in this community are so helpful and humble. You are right about the boss man and his cronies not fitting in here. They would all choke on their arrogance and be the first to complain.
Thanks
Ronn
I am delighted to be the first to like your blog and comment on it. Thank you for sharing your story about the sports blog. I like your viewpoint on the situation. You are like a rhino with alligator skin - keep charging full speed and don't let anyone get in your way.
Thank you Steph for all the kind words.I hope my post can help others in how to avoid or deal with these individuals of ill will.
Me too. And I am sure your post will inspire others to keep the faith and don't let the cruelty of others tear them down.

Thank you Ronn and I am happy that I inspired you to write this great post.
The real losers in the situation you were in are the unfortunate visitors who are believing in the propaganda style perspective given by the boss and his cronies. This is unfortunate and reminds of Fox News and MSNBC News (and all other news these days for that matter).
I always stand up to people like this and many times am the only one left in the room on my side. I admire you for doing the same Ronn.
I'm not sure if you believe in karma but I do. Many times I've not gotten to see karma in action but a few I have and boy what a rush. punishment for the stupid and lame by their own fault.
OK, now I'm just mumbling so back to business!
ROCK ON!

Hey E,
I appreciate all the words of wisdom. Most definitely I believe in karma. I to have seen it in action, but often wonder if the recipients understand the lesson?
Thanks
Ronn
Most of the time- the recipients I know are too damn stupid to ever figure it out.

Or their arrogance makes them blind to their own stupidity! I have noticed one of their first initial tactics of attack is to call people they oppose trolls. A couple of these PR department minions even tracked me to a similar sports blog to monitor and engage what I was posting. Now who are the real trolls? What hypocrisy.
lol - they have no life!
