Myth: You gotta be a Techie to make money online

Techie: a person who is has very good technical knowledge.

This is one those myths about making money online that is very hard to dismiss.

It is probably true when the Internet first started and to build a website, you have to be all technical and speak computer code or something. But this is definitely not true today or the foreseeable future.

Most stuff you see on the internet now has been designed to be user friendly. Use to be complicated stuff like starting a blog/website from scratch can now be done with just a few click of your mouse. (Well at least that is the case here at Wealthy Affiliate)

If you ever get stuck, a simple Google search, YouTube search or Wealthy Affiliate Classroom search will lead you to dozens of tutorials and step by step instructions for even your most technical questions. More often than not, someone has already upload a video or written an article on it. Just remember to bless that someone with your likes, comments and share. And yes, please buy products via their affiliate links too if they have been helpful.

OK you are techie? Great you probably have a 10 percent higher chance of succeeding online

Yes only 10 percent higher chance and provided you can get out of the technology entrapment.

There are two sides to building a successful online business. One side, you have the marketing stuff; human connections, relationship, strategy, value proposition and creating awesome content.

The “fun stuff’ that brings in traffic.

On other side of the equation you have technology.

Now, the hard part is not technology. Easily 90% of your online success will have to do with the “fun stuff” and yet a lot of people get tripped up by the 10%: Technology.

Maybe this sounds familiar. Have you wasted days (or weeks) trying to figure out which WordPress theme, auto-responder, SEO tweaks or extra plugins you should be using? How about the endless adjustments you make to your site to make it look “perfect”.

Wow nice looking site, any traffic yet?

A site that can make you any money must have traffic. There are many ways to monetize a website (see: 6 ways to monetize your blog) but I have yet seen one that makes money without traffic.
