Let me just get this out on the table-I am NOT a techie!! This is absolutely overwhelming to me, and I actually don't even like computers. I loathe them, honestly. I don't know what a domain is. I don't know what a gigabite is. I don't even know if I spelled that last word correctly. :/ I have to Google, "how to take a screen shot on my phone".
All of this terminology is completely foreign to me and I feel like a total fish out of water-to put it bluntly...a dumb ass. Everyone else seems to know what they're doing. They use jargon that I can only speculate on. I will need my husband to help me upload (or is it download?) an image of myself because, at this point, all I can do is click on my fav pic of a bird in the snow, and call it me.

But I am realizing that the computer and what it has to offer may be the help financially I have been looking for for so long. (sigh)

The two things I do have however, are, I am creative, and I love to write. I look forward to seeing how I may be able to launch some creativity through a niche market using WA. GULP.

My name is Jennifer. some peeps call me, Niki (-don't ask). Mom to 7 kiddos. 4 of them are 5 and under-ALL boys-Uh huh. Want to have at least one more...yes, I LOVE babies!! Don't want to work outside of the home because I want to be at home with these little guys. But dude...we NEED to make some extra income, and I have been researching high and low, trying my hand, etc, etc, at a TON of different things to help make ends meet. I am willing to work hard to make this work. I am not quitter and have been told by some members of my fam I am one of the most determined people they have ever met. Well, I am determined to make this work.
However, I am concerned because having small children at home means I simply don't have the amount of time I would like to invest. Knowing that I will only be able to commit 1-4 hours per day, depending on the day, means that I wont be making money for a few years at least-well, that's what I am reading. A little discouraging at the get-go, but I intend to keep at it, knowing I wont get rich quick, knowing there will be a lot of failures...HOPING that it will all pay off a few years down the line, and that I will not have wasted my time.

Anyway, if anyone would like to encourage me at this point, that would b great!! :)

Hey there Jennifer

These are great goals and they are more than achievable! The more time you can spend on learning here within the Community at Wealthy Affiliate the better, but we've built WA so that you can work at your own pace!

I know that you are going to do great!

Hey Jennifer, or is it Niki? Just kidding. Thanks for the follow.itmademy day after a tough week of vacationing with grumpy kids. Anyhow...
Five kids here, last one (so far) is a girl. From 1 yr up to 11 (really? WTF?) Probably more coming, my wife is too cute to keep my hands off of.
Learning is the key. You are going to screw up, all the best of us do so. Learn and move forward, fix what you can, delete and rebuild what you can't fix. Ask everything you can think of. Always. Some of us also don't know, but we're too chicken to ask.
Anyhow, just here to say hi.
Hi.
Here's a gif of how we handle life.

Hello there. I am not sure if you are still in chat. You had asked a question about seeing who's following you. Click on the number under "Network" in your profile up above. When you do that, you will see two tabs: "Following" and "Followed By". Click on "Followed By".

Have a great week.

I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".

I know, same thing happened to me when I started.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.

Get back to me when you get the chance! :)

Kyle, you have said at the end of your training videos to let you know if we have any questions or comments.
I am absolutely not a technical person in any way, shape or form. I really think that so far your training videos have been spot on for someone like me. In almost all areas of the videos I have finished them feeling confident to move forward, as well as having a clearer understanding for this new "world" to me.
There was one area however, which was still confusing to me somewhat. The area where you explained domains. I felt like you sort of started off explaining it as though you were explaining to people who already know what a domain is. I don't. I'm sure many others do, but there HAS to be other people on here like me (at least a few ;)) who don't know a jpeg from a power cord.
I feel like if you could start off giving the definition of a domain, that would help, and then move on to each of the three different kinds you had on the screen, and what the difference is between them?
Just some constructive criticism. I know I will have to go back and watch that part again, and I'm sure that as I start to dive in, "doing", it will all begin to make more sense to me. However, I am still a bit confused about the whole domain thing after watching it 2x.
All the other stuff, so far, has been fantastic, and I can't wait to continue!
Thank you!
Jennifer

The domain within the Starter membership are created on the .siterubix.com domain, you are in full control of the content, but you don't own the actual domain.

You can own your OWN .com domains (and purchase them here), and they are around $14 per year. A domain name is simply the address that points to your website, like wealthyaffiliate.com is our domain name, google.com is Google's domain name.

When you are ready, you can move these sites over to your own domains with a click of a button here at WA using the MOVE feature.

We also have a SiteDomains (domain registration platform) here at WA that simplifies the process. It is a breeze, it handles everything properly for SEO, and these are features included within the Premium membership.

Hope this clarifies for you Jennifer.

I am willing to "work my butt off", so to speak, as I have read on other websites and reviews. But, I want some harder numbers. I realistically am only able to invest 2-4 hours per day into this. However, I am willing to keep going, even if I see no results, if I believe there is light at the end of the tunnel. I'm not a quitter. Can I actually expect to see myself making decent money 2-3 years down the line, if I stick to this, with only 2-4 hours a day? Or do I realistically need to invest more time? I would like to be making at least $4000 a month in a few years...is that really possible with what I am able to do?

The vagueness is what concerns me...

This is the best education and training platform on the internet. there are over 1 million user on here and we cannot all be wrong. There are also people in their 80's here so if they can do it so can you and I. I am not sure what you mean by 'vagueness' as the lessons are extremely clear and explicit and the walk through videos that Kyle does are really clear. You also have the advantage of asking the community questions and there are people all over the world on this platform so there is nearly always someone somewhere in the world to respond to you questions and if not then Kyle is only an e-mail away.
When you get your website up and running you really need to look for affiliates that pay the highest commissions but that is something for later. I am here if you need help at any time and if I am not online at the time you need a question answered then drop me a line via the PM and I will get back to you as soon as I come back online

I don't see any verifiable evidence is what I mean by vagueness. The site does seem very clear with good training.

But, are you making money? How much every month? How often do you work? This is what seems vague to me. I don't want to waste my time, is all. Can I have an estimate of how long this will take to start seeing at least a few hundred dollars a month? Millions of people can be wrong. Millions of people can be duped into thinking they are going to get rich. The fact is, about 97% of these people will give up-why?
What is the percentage of these millions of people who are actually making money, not cents, but doing it for a living? These are the questions I want answered before I give them my $$.

One thing you have to understand about affiliate marketing is that it's not a get rich quick scheme, nor is it something that happens very quickly, or even on your timetable. There's nothing scammy or misleading about it. It's just commission based marketing. It's like if you worked at a brick and mortar and sold TV's. You get a % of the sale. Nothing mind blowing or confusing about it. I've been here for just about 4 years and I'm still learning. Was I able to quit my job and pursue this? Yes, but it takes time and patience. A lot of people tend to quit around 3-6 months in because they aren't seeing results. This is a crucial period in the time line and a lot of people don't stick it out. That's not the fault of the platform, but rather the individual. I was one of the ones that kept grinding and I'm seeing the fruits of that labor. I would advise you to put the blinders on and go through the training instead of trying to get people to prove to you that it works. We can try and convince you all day, but you're the one who has to take action and prove it to yourself. Just know that you're in the right place.

Yes, Dylan, I read ur stuff and that's why I'm here. I'm having a hard time finding out what I should expect in return over the next months and next couple years if I am able to invest 2-4 hours per day on this. Everyone just says work your butt off...well, duh! But I have small children and I am only able to do this when they are sleeping...
