Success in Joining The Container Store's Affiliate Program!

Hi all,

I wanted to share a small success that I had recently. I've found that some affiliate programs are difficult to join for new niche websites such as mine because we do not yet have an established level of traffic. Ok, well there is nothing that I can do about that, right?

Well, my issue with this is that I had used a particular product that I had purchased from The Container Store that I really liked and I very much wanted to do my first "product review" post on this particular product. So naturally, I first needed to be a part of The Container Store's Affiliate Program so that I could monetize my review.

I tried joining the Container Store's affiliate program through the normal application process via the Rakuten Marketing network. I immediately got denied because apparently, I did not meet the required criteria to join this affiliate marketing program. In other words, my website was not established enough for a mutually beneficial business relationship.

So I took matters into my own hands and decided to write a letter to The Container Store Affiliate Marketing Program utilizing the contact information in the Rakuten Marketing network. What did I have to lose? I introduced myself, explained my niche and my desire to join thieir affiliate marketing program so that I may write a product review on one of their products.

Within a day, I received a reply back asking if I was part of the Rakuten network and for my SID number. My spirtis were high that I got any kind of a reply so quickly. I replied that I was a member of the Rakuten network and provied my SID number...and then it went silent.

A week had passed and I was feeling a bit discouraged that I still had not heard anything offical yet. I decided to write a follow up email to ask for a status update. I also reiterated my strong desire to join their Affiliate Marketing Program because I really liked one of their products and wanted to do a product review on my website. I also stated that perhaps they have other products that I could try out and write reviews on as well.

Well...my persistence paid off! I received an email the next day with a personal invitation to join The Container Store Affiliate Network!

Lessons learned...think out of the box, be persistent and don't give up!
