Why YOUR Success Matters

Is it true that people want to be successful only for selfish reasons?

I like to believe it is not, but who can blame someone for wanting a lot of money to buy nice fancy things for themselves and for their families? I certainly can't because that is just human instinct. Humans are both selfish and selfless creatures but it is when we find a balance between the two that we make the world a better place to live in.

So why does your success matter?

Well, when there are more successful people in the world, the world is a better place. It may be a little more complicated than just that but that is the main idea. Whenever someone becomes successful, they open up doors for so many other people.

Take a company like Google for example. How many workers do you think they employ? Well the answer is about 40,000 worldwide. That is 40,000 people that Google has given a job. Google is company that was started by two young ambitious young men who saw a problem with the way we search for things on the internet and looked to correct it in an ethical and efficient manner.

Now, they have one of the most successful companies in the world and because of that, they make everyone better off.

The chances of you starting a company that is as successful as Google is very slim but the example does a good job of getting my point across. People who gain success through ethical manners and create a service or a product that is beneficial to society are making their neighborhoods, their economy, and the world a better place for everyone.

I will always remember my very first business class at the collegiate level when my professor told us that companies not only have goals to succeed, it is their obligation. They have a responsibility to succeed. A business that is not successful is not contributing to society, but business that is successful is.

Business's that make money are contributing to society. Business that offer their employees good benefits, fair work hours and fair compensation while making a profit are ideal business that make the world a better place. It does not matter what the business is. A business can offer any ethical product or service and contribute to society.

However, you don't just have to be in business to be successful of course.

Law makers and other government workers make our street and our country a better place to live. Teachers teach the successful minds of the future to be people of significance when they grow up. Whatever you aspire to be, do it to the absolute best of your abilities.

Why Your PERSONAL Success Matters.

Well, to be as straight forward as possible: If you are successful, you are helping the government, the economy, your business market and other people. If you are successful, you rely less on government pensions and other services and become more self reliant. Your success helps the economy and improves GDP because you are putting more money back into the economy.

My belief is once you become successful, you have an obligation to give back. The obvious example of this would be the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation where the Gates family gives a large chunk of their huge income to charity.

This should be one of the main motivators to get you pumped up to succeed.

If you have a substantial income or you have a business, you have a great opportunity to help people. Maybe your business identifies a problem and looks to solve it, or maybe it offers consumers a unique or appealing product or service. Maybe you have employees in your business where you have the opportunity to give people jobs.

When you put yourself in a position to help people, you become a person of significance in the world. Wouldn't you like to be a person of significance? I certainly would. That is why those in school put the world in to get good grades. That is why those who own a business put the work in to earn a profit and help their communities. That is why people in law fight to protect us and out rights. They all want to people a person of significance and influence.

Success puts you in the position to be influential. It puts you in the position to change things. That why YOUR success matters. It doesn't matter if you own a business, work for someone else, are a lawyer or a teacher, your success at what you do matters.

Anyway you look at it, your success helps the world.

So I encourage you not to stand idly by and wait for someone to pick up for slack for you. Be self reliant and be a person of influence of this world. That is why I endorse companies like Wealthy Affiliate University because they show people how to be people of significance and influence. They help change people's lives by giving them the tools they need to succeed.

The owners, being successful themselves, have opened the door for so many more people to jump on the success train. That is why I support them.

Great post NLandau.
I totally agree with you that "once you become successful, you have an obligation to give back". Jack Lemmon said "If you have done well, it’s your responsibility to send the elevator back down.” What a great world this would be if we all did that.
Cheers, Caden
P.S. I take your point about Greatness Awaits:

Thank You Caden,
That is exactly the point I was trying to get at. We should always be looking to help others. It should just be part of our business.
I don't believe Jack Lemmon could have said it any better.
I am also glad you liked the point with Greatness Awaits!

Cheers,
Nate
