Counselor at an Outdoor Camp

I'm excited to share with you guys that next Saturday (the 27th) I will be leaving town for a week to be a counselor at an outdoor summer camp. This camp is called 4-H Camp and we do a lot of fun outdoor activities such as canoeing, archery, crafts, and all kinds of games. (Plus we sing a lot.)

I was a camper at this camp for five years and since I just finished my freshman year in high school I have been presented with my first chance to be a counselor (which of course I snatched up.) This camp had always been one of the favorite parts of my summers and it feels great to able to give back.

At this camp I will be in charge of a group of 5th and 6th grade boys. We have quite a few counselors this year so the groups will be pretty small. I have four boys in my group. However, we are grouped together in cabins with two other counselor groups so in total there will be three of us counselors in my cabin and twelve 5th/6th grade boys.

You may be wondering what being gone for a week means for my website. Luckily, I have a plan. I am going to write four extra articles before I leave and keep them saved as drafts (but completely finished) and I will publish the extra articles during short periods when I have internet access/time. I will space this over the week I'm gone so my publishing frequency stays up there.

I'm super excited for this camp and I can't wait to share with you guys how it went after I get back.

Sounds like a great way to have a change of pace. The 4-H program offers a great many opportunities for counselors and campers alike to have a great time. The planning will allow your site to maintain, and is what a responsible business owner does. Congratulations

Have a great time .

Hope you have a great time. It reminds me of when I was about your age and was a counselor at a Boy Scout Camp for the full summer. I was a lifeguard and taught marksmanship. Wow, did we have a ball. Good luck and have fun.

Wow! Have a wonderful time out there!

Hey, have a great time, be safe and enjoy yourself. Look forward to hearing about your great time when you get back ;-)

Question - can't you set it up to publish them on a certain day automatically? I'm sure the option exists... That way, you don't even need to have internet access! Ps have a fab time!

I'll have to look into that! Thanks for letting me know.

Tom, now you are showing your age! 'Camp is very entertaining, we might even get outside if it stops raining'. Have fun. Is 4H the Hands, Heart, Health and something else beginning with H club?

Yeah it's typically an animal thing. There is a few 4H things that aren't animals but the majority of it is livestock stuff. I raise pigs. (In case you were wondering Head, Heart, Hands, Health; I pledge my head to clearer thinking, my heart to greater loyalty, my hands to larger service, and my health to better living for my club, my community, my country, and my world.)

Yeh, I remembered Health later. A lot of my friends were on farms and belonged to this. And I love pigs. They are vey intelligent animals. And really clean and not obnoxially smelling if they are allowed to roam.

"Hello, Mother. Hello, Father. Here I am at Camp Grenada."

Never heard that before

It's an old comedy song, done by Allan Sherman. Go to YouTube.

lol I know that one :-)

".......take me home, oh Muddah Faddah, take me home....."
great song, don't need youtube because I think I remember it from the 60's or so, arghhhhh the "joy" of age and experience!!
Mark

Have fun and try not to get poison ivy

I'll do my best! ;)
