Staying Inside - Keeping Focused & Working Hard
With all the events going on in the world today I like to consider us here at WA the lucky ones, we have the opportunity to continue to work and build our businesses behind closed doors.
As I am sure everyone is aware, to stay inside and practice social distancing - especially around our older loved ones.
For this blog post I wanted to share some tips and tricks on staying focused when the world around is in quite a panic.
Staying Focused - Tips & Tricks
Usually I am the first to recommend getting out and about to enhance your work experience, diners & coffee shops, the list goes on. But at this point in our 2020 year we have to be a little more creative.
1. Set up and plan your day the night before - making sure you have a guided list of activities you would like to accomplish. Giving you the mindset of getting work done as soon as you wake up in the morning!
2. Eliminate distractions and get the hardest things done first! Getting the most 'dreadful' elements of your list done first will make the rest of your day feel easier to get completed.
If you are able to separate yourself and reduce the amount of distractions around you - your efficiency will continue to rise! Put two and two together and you just might get tomorrows list done too!
3. Taking breaks is important - If you can feel yourself getting tired of looking at the screen or holding the pen for so long – it’s time to separate yourself from work for a solid 20 minutes. Going for a walk, being active, etc. are great ways to refresh your mind.
I enjoy doing about 30 minutes of work followed by 10-20 minutes of refreshing - this ensures my content never sees my lack of energy or focus.
4. Be mindful of how you work BEST - you cannot make a fish climb a tree so why try? Find what works for you and stick to it & be open to change. Keeping an open, positive outlook on your day will ensure no bump create a downfall in efficiency! Try to encorporate fun ways to get your list accomplished.
5. Stay organized and don't put things off - one of my "2020 New Year’s Resolutions" was the go get em'attitude. As soon as a thought popped in my head of something I wanted to get done - whether it be dishes or a blog post - I sat down and immediately got to work.
This was incredibly difficult at first but soon enough the patterns of habit kick in and you are a working machine without the procrastination and setbacks!
Here is an idea that is little off the wall but TESTED AND WORKED for me anyways. I often like to leave my apartment to work because I find the best focus elsewhere...
Since this has been a little more challenging over the past few weeks - I have been regularly building forts in my home for work sessions. This allows me to completely isolate myself and my mind with no distractions other than the work in front of me. Give it a try! You might be surprised!
Thank you for reading my blog post today - I hope everybody is safe indoors and working hard! Try your best to understand what is in your control and how to take advantage of all opportunities around you right now. Have a great day!
Nikki

HAPPY TO HELP ANYTIME ....LOL
Thanks for the response, I hope you stay safe and well. I agree with you, our governments should have been acting a lot sooner and many lives wouldn't have been impacted the way they were. At this point all we can do is our duty to society, pray for those who are suffering and prevent this spread by staying indoors! I wish you the best!
Thanks again,
Nikki
