Yes, failure, adversity and heartache all can bend us out of shape, but the flip side is that they eventually transform us into persons better than we were.

Indeed, every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries an equal or greater benefit. Yes, they all can first appear as difficulties in our lives, but once we have gone through the passage of time, we come out on the other side better because we have endured and overcome those difficulties.
Moreover, because adversity, failure and heartache push us and force us to do things differently, it causes us to develop and grow in leaps and bounds in ways we never thought possible. Therefore, at the end of it all, we become different people because of the new skills, qualities and emotions we develop.
Final Thoughts:
Adversity, failure and heartache are supposed to make us better and yes most times they do. However, sometimes people become bitter and worse because of them. So, we have to be mindful of the impact that adversity can have on us. Make sure that they carry seeds of equal or greater benefit for us.
Most importantly, let your adversities push us to become better, to develop skills and qualities to be the best at what we do. Also, let failures pull us to keep going when we feel like quitting to become consistent and focused because with these new skills, emotions and qualities nothing or no one can stand in the way of our progress.

I think that's probably true. You see people with great adversity push harder than those who have few adversities. You can really see great determination. Maybe that's why they see greater rewards. Great quote and post, Nichola!
