“If you correct your mind, the rest of your life will fall into place.” Lao Tzu

Your mind is like an ocean. Just like the tides come in and out so do the thoughts come in and then retreat back. When you mind becomes stuck, the ebb and flow of your thoughts are all negative. Therefore, each new thought increases the negativity making it stronger and then creating a snowball effect.

Consequently, you have to be able to correct your mind, so that the rest of your life will fall into place. Your mind is the most powerful organ within your body. It is even active while you are asleep. Since it is impossible to totally escape your mind, at least, you have to correct it by correcting your thinking.

Furthermore, you struggle with your mind on a daily basis. With the mind, you have anger, anxiety, depression and impulsiveness. There can also be calmness, happiness, self-control and communication when you correct your mind.

However, when you are able to correct the mind, the rest of your life will fall into place. So, how can you correct your mind? Through self-discipline, mindfulness and meditation, you can correct your mind and help it out of its state of self-limiting habits and instead help it to become one with reality.

Finally, when you are able to correct the mind, you are able to slow it down and then you can look more closely and see new things more acutely and thus your perception becomes clearer. You are able to see subtle associations and distant connections. In time, you are able to have a better understanding of life and all that lies beneath the surface and this will completely transform your life. “It all begins and ends in your mind. What you give power to has power over you.” Leon Brown.

I appreciate your time and your comments.

To our success!

Kind regards,

Nichola

I wouldn't take the time and effort to communicate what follows if I didn't respect your accomplishments and thought process. I respect you search for truth, comfort, and the knowledge needed for success.

Nichola, (I appreciate your wealth of knowledge) Your statement may be what breaks my thought process apart and reorients my sense of self? You quote the Tao, "When you are able to correct the mind, the rest of your life will fall into place" a Taoist saying, not bad for a guy that lived between 145 and 86 BC (before the Christian era). Humm, (that is my pause for thinking). Dear Nichola, there is a lot of research on what is called brain plasticity (please Google), which is another way to say that the mind/brain can redirect brain circuitry. The dendrites actually create new connections and trim circuits that are not used (don't use it and you will lose it). I sense an optimistic idea that we can fix our "mind" . Hmmm I believe they call this "recovery" in addiction studies, where addiction is considered a brain disease. Some understand addiction as a spiritual issue. Great for the believer. No Science behind this belief.

Seems to me that our mind/brain adjusts to new information and the formation of new values. I would be cautious about saying that "the rest of life falls in place". If that be true, I would have fallen in place a long time ago. We are a little more complicated and we enjoy the mystery that life continuously impresses us with. At the same time If you are fixed, why be mindful?

Dear, you are correct that if we don't "control" or somehow cannot adjust to new situations, we are in trouble. A great philosopher, John Dewey, suggested that the brain evolved as a problem-solving element in our conscious. This means we are in many respects hard-wired "not to change". When I know that this plant is poisonous and that plant is edible It is difficult to change our mind/brain. Evolution is contingent upon knowing what works and what does not. I use the "brain/mind" because one of my mysteries in life and thought is that, is this separation real? When my bio dies, there is no mind that is available.

Nichola, Several weeks ago I watched Barbara O'Neil YouTUbe videos on nutrition. My worldview concerning food changed. I changed. I wanted to change my mind and I decided to listen and within a couple of weeks of action, my T2 Diabetes is no longer. My meter reading, at 66 is now normal after struggling for 25 years. It is not a divine miracle. I took action on new information and I didn't resist the new behaviors. Perhaps that is the key to changing behavior, acceptance of the possibility that I might benefit from adopting new behaviors. I believed her message and it added years to my existence. So I agree that we can change. Now I decided to listen to Kyle and Carson. I will take action on this message and develop the skills necessary to succeed in affiliate marketing. At the same time, a whole bunch of my life needs mindfulness. My resistance is based on my own set of crazy, self-destructive thoughts sometimes. A stiff drink at the end of the day. Fixing my whole life is unavailable: I like a little craziness. My personality is too disinhibited and persistent. As much as I wish, my personality persists. In my best of spirits, I hope only the best for you. Really. Dr. Jeff If my statement is offensive, a big apology from me.

PS, The Tao was written for the elders, Confuses was written for the young, and Buddhism was written for the middle years. The older we get the more balanced (the Tao) we become, I think. What do you think? Truth is my perspective on this issue at this moment in my life: perhaps?

As a native American, a chief wrote, 'As we are the only conscienceness in the universe, we each are the center of the universe". What a thought!! Black Elk Speaks, I think.

One more thought, I have been brain dead until you provoked me to think and speak. I owe you a debt of gratitude. I published my dissertation in 2014 and became very depressed. I did not quit, It took a while to stand up after my adrenaline leaked out. You and others have had an effect on me to breathe deeply and communicate once again. Thank you and I know very little about you. 8-)) Jeffrey Grace and Peace We may have in common a soul or spirit for a deep appreciation for life.

NicholaJames. Thank you for your kind words. Actually I taught philosophy and comparative religion for 15 years and counseling psychology for the next 14 years. I thought there was something of value in my hunt. This leads me to WA, as making a living after I retire in 2 years, is a responsibility I take seriously. So, I am working on the training and I won't stop ever as there is no place to land, only a new place to make another launch. Dr. Jeffrey
