How to Stop Wishing and Start Winning
Quote of the Day: “A goal without a plan is just a wish.” Antoine De Saint-Exupery
Several years ago, I decided I wanted to own my own business. That was the goal. Sounds good, right? I even wrote it on a sticky note and put it on my bedroom dresser mirror. I looked at it every day, convinced that the universe would reward my optimism.
Months turned into years and that sticky note was still there. I did not own a business, and the only thing that changed was the color of the paper; it had faded from yellow to pale sadness. That was the moment I realized that Antoine de Saint-Exupery quote applied to me “A goal without a plan is just a wish.”
Fast forward to today, I have an offline/online business and I am creating a second online business here in WA. All this happened because I created a plan for my goal of having a business. I did the research for the type of business I want and while doing this I stumbled upon WA after wasting money and time trying to create an online business. I did not give up but instead I pushed through the hard times and I prevailed.
Furthermore, the skills I acquired here at WA I was able to apply to my offline/online business to grow my business. I have also decided to promote WA again. So with the help of the new Bootcamp Training I am forging forward with my plan to create a second business.
Indeed, wishing feels good! It gives you that little rush of hope. But hope without a plan is like buying workout clothes and never going to the gym. You look prepared, but you are not getting any stronger.
Continuing along, the truth is, goals need structure, direction, and commitment. Think of them as destinations. You would never hop in your car and start driving aimlessly while saying, “I’ll figure it out when I get there.” You would at least check a map, set a route, and decide when to leave.
More importantly, running a business or starting one works the same way. You can want success all day long, but until you create a plan to make it happen, you are just sitting in the driver’s seat with the engine off.
Here is how we can turn our own goals into solid, achievable plans:
- Be specific about what we want. “Make more money” is too vague. “Earn an extra $2,000 a month by adding two new clients” gives us something to measure.
2. Break it into smaller steps. Big goals can feel overwhelming. Divide them into smaller, manageable actions we can track. Each small win builds momentum.
3.Set deadlines. Without a timeline, a goal will drag on forever. Deadlines add healthy pressure and create accountability.
4. Track our progress. Write things down, review weekly, and adjust where necessary. Seeing progress on paper builds confidence and focus.
5. Hold ourselves accountable. Tell someone our goals or find an accountability partner. It is easier to stay consistent when someone else is watching.
6. Celebrate the small wins. We will not reach our goals overnight, but every step forward deserves recognition. Reward ourselves for progress. Celebrate the small victories.
Finally, here is the bottom line; goals are dreams dressed in work clothes. They come alive when you map them out, take action, and keep moving forward even when you feel like quitting.
In closing, the next time we catch ourselves saying, “I wish I could…” stop right there and grab a pen. Write it down. Build a plan. Because the difference between wishing and achieving is usually found in one thing, what we do next. Now my question to you is; what are you doing to turn your goals into solid, achievable plans?
I appreciate your time, comments and likes.
To our success
Kind regards,
Nichola

I really haven't started making goals and plans. Although I did make goals and plans with kind of a " road map" after watching the last installment of Bootcamp. I have it planned out for this week to create a reviews menu and possibly a comparison menu.🧐 MAC

Nichola, this post is a masterclass in turning intention into impact. I love how you moved from faded sticky notes to flourishing businesses — it’s a journey so many of us can relate to. Your metaphor of “goals as destinations” and “dreams dressed in work clothes” is brilliant. It reminds us that clarity, structure, and momentum are the real fuel behind success.
Your step-by-step breakdown is pure gold — especially the part about celebrating small wins. That’s where resilience grows. Thank you for sharing your story with such honesty and strength. You’ve turned a personal lesson into a roadmap for others. Wishing you continued success as you build your second business — and thank you for inspiring us to stop wishing and start winning.
To progress with purpose,

Thank you Nichola
Goals and our dreams is what motivates many of us, but without a plan as you have shared it might never happen.
Years ago before WA. I was jumping from one niche to another. Then I decided to promote what I now works for me and others. Wealthy Affiliate.
My goal is to help seniors supplement their retirment income online. My dreams is to have a successful online business helping people my own age. Who do I know better than people my own age, and who are struggling as I was years ago.
Keeps motivating us Nichola
Jeff
Hi Jeff!
Indeed, our goals motivate us but without a plan to achieve them and taking the necessary daily actions they are only wishes.
Yes, promote what makes sense for your and others alike. Great job taking on the challenge to help seniors to supplement their income in retirement. My hats off to you my friend. Keep doing what you are doing once your are making a difference in the lives of others as well as your own.
Wishing you the very best!
Kind regards,
Nichola
Hey Nichola
Sometimes we have big dreams and goals, but we are not sure how to make them happen for real.
Coming up with a true plan is a must for sure,
Jeff
Indeed, we have to create a plan to see we can make our goals and dreams come alive.
