Meaning of the Quote:

Those who dream by day are aware of more things most of which are oblivious by those who dream by night.

Discussion of the Quote:

The first question is this: What is daydreaming? “Daydreaming is the stream of consciousness that detaches from current external tasks when attention drifts to more personal and internal direction.” Wikipedia.

Day dreamers dream while they are awake with their eyes opened. Therefore, they are aware of their surroundings as well as their own bodies even if they are not focusing on them. Additionally, day dreams are controlled by the conscious mind. People can get loss in their daydreams over the content of the dreams.

On the other hand: “Lucid dreaming is a type of dream where the dreamer becomes aware they are dreaming.” The dreamer may gain some control during lucid dreaming. During lucid dreaming, you are disconnected from your body and your immediate surroundings as well as your senses. These dreams can feel real but they are not. They are created by your subconscious mind.

Final Thoughts:

We all dream both by day and night. When we daydream, our conscious minds are in control and our imaginations play major roles in the creation of such dreams. In daydreaming, our feelings, thoughts, images and visualization come into play. According to the quote, daydreamers are cognizant of many things. They are dreaming with their eyes wide open.

However, when it comes to dreaming at night, our subconscious minds are in control. Our conscious thoughts, feelings and imaginations do not play any role in this type of dreams. Therefore, many conscious things aren't a part of night dreaming. Night dreamers are asleep during night dreaming.
