This morning when I went into my WA I was prompted to sign in(which is usually not the case). The view on the website was very different too. I then remembered the most talked about BIG thing to happen this week! And YES I found Kyle's announcement video.
The phrase 'Nothing Endures But CHANGE' always pops up in such situations where I have to adapt to new changes.
IT GETS MORE EXCITING IN WA!
While I say its getting excited I have seen some comments that don't really embrace the change. Few people think the change in the User Interface will do bad for the platform and community.
I for one as a UX fanatic has seen so much improvement on the platform front-end for the younger generation to tap in.
I'll explain 3 main things that will cause young generation to flood in to WA.

Young Adults - Digital Natives
This group of people grew up with access to digital communications' technology.

They are a critically important user group: many of them are studying for degrees,
or beginning careers. Some of them are starting families and buying
homes. They’re starting to earn more money, and they’re comfortable with
spending it online.
When it comes to Web User interface, this group of people find attractive web interface and stay in.
The old WA user interface couldn't attract this group of people. With this upgraded front-end graphics iI believe it will gain attention.
Young Adults Multitask Online
Many young people multi tasks online. They can play music on YouTube, browse Facebook/Instagram/snap chat and still have space to read on kindle fire.
The multitasking need sets them a standard to use web interfaces that are interactive and easy to use.
The old WA website was not really multitasking-friendly. One has to really go in and spend more time to actually understand.
Young Adults High Expectations
Young adults’ expectations for all aspects of websites, including content, interaction design, and visual design
This is an error prone group where they click first before they ask questions later.
The old WA website was full of words that you have to read through and less user-friendly buttons to click.
In Summary
I believe Kyle & Carson and the designing team knew about age factor. Kyle did mention that the change is to prepare for more developments in the future.
Now I am wishing if I had saved a few screenshots of the old version to clearly illustrate and compare. However, we are moving forward and hope to get existing members accustomed quickly to the new version.
Again this change is and will attract many more young people to join WA. This will be exciting for the community.
