Nostalgic for Microsoft Outlook Express

Yep the title says it all for me. When Microsoft finally dumped outlook express many cried in their sleep...lol.. it was quite a good desktop email client. Was so easy to setup and use, so everyone was hanging out for the newer version. Microsft decided to bring in Windows Mail; that was not a bad email client either, but they change tactic again and killed that in 2016,

Where is my Desktop Email client

Well after that windows mail disappeared. The next mail client was now included with the office 365 version and now you have to pay for the service. If you have the money I would recomend buying a windows 2010 version of microsoft Office which comes with the outlook program, it is quite a good one. I realize that some people do not like desktop email client software like otlook express, windows live mail etc....but I believe desktop email cleint are much more user friendly then internet versions. I know I am a bit old school;, as I had used Outlook express for years and was quite saddened to see it killed off.

I have been looking for different desktop email cleints since I lost my hard disk the other day and with it my only official licienced copy of Microsft office 2010 which comes with the microsoft outlook mail program, brilliant piece really loved that software. Unfortunately do not have the disk any more so I am forced to log onto the internet and log onto my email program and access my email.

convoluted way to get to your email

Let me just put this in context how I go and collect my emails, I start the computer ----> I connect to the intenet using either Firefox or Google chrome -----> type in my outlook web address ------> click on the access ----> type in my username and password--------> wait for it to load-------> then access my emails .

Six steps to get to my emails. Whereas before with microsoft outlook I had to start the computer------> start outlook------> click get mail!!.... 2 steps to get to where I want to get too.

Solution to outlook express

Anyway I will keep this short so the next step for me was to look for a free version of any desktop email cleint that I can use. The bestest one I have found is on the link below!!.. Just get the free version and you can configure it to access, outlook email in microsft, gmail in google and any other email you might have. The best thing is it is right on the desktop. You do not have to log in separately to all the different emails you have, So for anyone who has hankering of the good old days...lol...of desktop mail client..Try this : https://www.essentialpim.com/pc-version/pro-vs-free

I hope this helps

Hi Gus

Oh is THAT why my pillow has been wet that time? ;-) LOL!

Yes, I fully hear you, Gus! I've also been very frustrated when Outlook Express disappeared - it was my email client from as long as I can remember.

I found another program a few years ago, but support for that has now also been discontinued. Argh.

Thank you for the suggestion, Gus!

Wishing you all of the very best!

Hi Gus

LOL! Well, I can tell you that at that time, they were almost as bad in my eyes as the big, bad wolf that killed little red riding hood. ;-) LOL!

In my corner of paradise, I can officially say: "Enjoy your weekend, Gus!" ;-)

Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)
