Tying It All Together

Week 1 is in the bag!

All in all, it hasn't been too bad!

I came back to the platform on 12-15-2020.

I officially have 2 blogs that I am using to build out content for my websites with 9 active domains being utilized on 3 hosting platforms.

My niche is in the cross hairs and I am really loving how I can promote the WA platform and content with affiliate links.

I have been putting a fair amount of emphasis on branding, creating original content to bring asthetics to my sites, and making sure that I can get rid of any navigation hiccups that would trip people up.

The customer experience is every bit as important to me as the words that I write.

For those who are just starting out, I have learned that a website that is not visually pleasing is a HUGE turn off, and Themes that take a long time to load will drive away potential followers.

Not that I am a pro by any means, but it is always at the forefront of my thought...

I am interested to see how everyone else is doing, and I really just wanted to share some of this stuff to encourage the other individuals here.

What are some of your struggles, successes, pitfalls, lessons?...

I know that there are a lot of people who may be just starting out because they have had to adapt to a COVID climate.

What I LOVE about this community is the way that we all support one another.

When I first started working online I was VERY stressed out about the learning curve that came with Affiliate Marketing and content creation.

Eventually I took the training wheels off, and I stumbled a few times but I always got right back up. Each pitfall was an opportunity to learn something new.

I can't tell you how many hours I have poured in to our sites, graphics, and programs over the years. There are many Small Business Owners who would just farm it all out, but knowing the interworkings of the life-blood of your business is essential in my opinion.

Besides the fact that I have picked up an invaluable skill set!

Here are some screenshots from my sites:

On a side note, I am always very forward with disclosures and cookie policies now. It is advantageous to be as transparent as possible because it builds trust with the customer.

With the way the online world has exploded there is a lot of stuff that is much less tabboo now. Everyone expects cookies and most people are atleast familiar with affiliate marketing as a concept, so post your disclosures like a banner. People will most likely appreciate the transparency. (And the FTC will stay off your back)

Graphic design is a valiable skill to play around with. I honestly don't know how much money I would have spent on a lot of the work that I have put together over the years, but it is nice to have a library of resources so that I can just be creative when the mood strikes.

I know that I am probably not at a "professional level" with my skills, but I guess that is kind of my point.

I have adapted and rolled with the punches for so long that if I need something done I am more likely to figure it out than hire it out.

I think that a lot of the time the stuff we do ourselves builds the most character for a site or blog.

SO HAVE FUN WITH IT!

You can tell a lot about a person by their creation style as well as their writing style.

I had no experience online when I began this journey and I got my start here at WA.

Granted, I have spent a lot of time demolishing old content because, well, things change. Interests change. Domain names come and go. Products come and go.

Sometimes I will see something I did two years ago and say to myself, "That really sucks, I hate it!" (DELETE)

But we all go through the frustrations of growing as content creators. You are not alone if you feel like it's an uphill journey.

I guess what I'm saying is just don't give up!

I hope you all are having great success and staying healthy.

I am so grateful for the warm welcome that I have received since coming back to the platform.

I am about to wrap up Level 3 Training and start on Level 4, so expect more updayes as the week continues!

I look forward to hearing how everyone is doing!

Cheers!

- Ian
