My progress thus far

Hi, everyone! I want to share with you a little of the progress I've made here at Wealthy Affiliate. I've learned many things; one of the most valuable lessons I've learned so far is the importance of patience, believing in myself and learning from those who have walked the path before. The progress I've made so far has to do with understanding better how all the pieces come together to run an online business. I was a bit bitter some time ago before I found WA, because I believed I could create a successful online business and accomplish great things but I didn't know exactly how to use my talents and knowledge into concrete actions and monetize them. I knew that internet was a huge thing that had come to change the world forever and I wanted to be part of it, but it all then seemed to be just a dream.

It was 2009 and I had read several books that talked about internet as a means to creating great wealth in the coming years and the authors said that something big was coming, I shared what I had read very enthusiastically with other people only to hear from them I was a dreamer and that I had to wake up from that dream. Years passed but I kept noticing internet was a huge thing, I noticed and heard people talking about their "new" discovery: they could make money online. It seemed like I actually was right back then, but I didn't have the courage to take the risk. I heard about people getting rich through online businesses and I thought "that could have been me". I tried to understand better how to actually monetize from internet but the information seemed to me as if it was was almost cut into a million pieces, so to speak. I found it incredibly overwhelming, and, I had to deal with many other things at the same time and my job was consuming a lot of my time and energies, so I ended up sticking to only my job. Time passed and I understood I wasn't very happy with the income I was making and understood I couldn't be really happy until I unleashed my true potential. I knew I needed time, time to dedicate for a greater good, but I also needed to pay the bills.

A friend of mine asked me if I could help him to get better scores in school and he offered to pay for it, then he recommended me to other people and I understood I could actually make a living from tutoring alone... an austere one, but it wouldn't be forever... and I could dedicate time to building an online business. Since I now dedicate only a few hours a week for tutoring, I feel confident I will see some good results soon. I'm not going to make the same mistake I did 10 years ago. Luckily, I found wealthy Affiliate. I know now it is just a matter of dedication and time to see the results, huge results!

My plans and goals

I attached a picture of a proposal in this post because one of my goals is getting married... not a goal for the next 3 or 6 months, but that's an important goal that motivates me. I want a beautiful wedding, a beautiful house in a beautiful and safe neighborhood, and a I want to be a good provider for my future family. Something I heard from my ex-girlfriend that truly hurt but actually helped me to wake up was "you are very intelligent, you know a lot of things, but all that intelligence goes to waste because you settle for too little in life, and that's so sad". It really hurt because I knew it was true. It reminded me I hadn't been braver, and I also understood I had listened to the little men; I had allowed them to discourage me from my goals and I was paying the price. If I had listened to other type of people they would have said "go for it, you aren't dreaming, you are actually more awake than most people, you're on the right track, go for it, the internet is a huge opportunity if you want to create wealth", and that's what I've found in Wealthy Affiliate: a group of people with big goals who encourage you to NOT settle for little, but for more . When I logged in for the free membership I was asked how much I would be happy earning... I wrote a very small amount. I see now that I was still settling for too little when it came to money. My goals are directed now to seeing actual money in my hands in the coming upcoming months. For that to happen, I know I have to work hard and leave some habits behind, especially multitasking and getting distracted, so, my arrows will be aimed at that.

In the upcoming 3 months

Understanding and getting to know my customers at a deeper level.

Developing the habit of staying focused in one task at a time (no more multitasking habits or distractions).

Participate more in the Wealthy Affiliate community.

Seeing results materialized in money. My initial financial goals were $800 weekly; seeing those $800 in my hands.

In the upcoming 6 months

Having built a solid site that generates at least $1600 weekly.

Any successes

I've directed, created and acted in successful local theater plays, I've won martial arts competitions, I've helped people overcome feelings of anguish and depression, I've been number one in my class since high school; I've dated fashion models despite the fact that I'm not the best looking guy, I'm 1.56 cm (5 feet) tall and not wealthy (yet); I've learned English through self study alone, many people have thanked me for listening to them and telling them the words they needed to hear, I've studied how to listen (yes, that's something you can actually study hehe) and I'm sure this will help me to build success in this online business.
