I've always been interested in marketing. I've bought a couple of "systems", you know the sort, you pay for a fairly low price, short term subscription, it teases you with tales of wealth and fast cars, but you must by this NOW! and you buy a seat at a seminar for a medium price, where you get sold another system, actually the same system, but wrapped up and packaged in a shiny set of books in a case.

Then you receive a yellow envelope in the post, and inside is an exclusive invitation for you to meet face to face with an Internet Marketing Guru, who has wrapped the same system up in a shinier package, and added some bells and whistles to it.

I'm not knocking the marketing model. It's tried and tested. You can take anything, and if you have the right copy and the right marketing, if you can wrap it up nicely, and put a bow on it, it can be sold. Even if it's been sold a thousand times before, and everyone's already got one. Everyone will want another one, if it's a bit shinier than the last one. And they'll be happy to pay more as well.

But on closer inspection, they aren't actually offering anything. They are simply selling you the same system, several times over, and each time, promising you that if you spend more money, more secrets will be revealed. I'm sure if you pay £6000 for a day with The Guru, you will, if you have any sense, absorb every last bit of information. If he's made £50 million over the last 15 years, he's obviously doing something right.

My thoughts so far on WA. It looks like all that informaton that The Guru sells over and over again can be had here at a fraction of the cost. I look forward to developments.
