Alright here is my deal... I have a website that is a year and a half old and over 100 posts. The problem is that I havnt written anything in about the last 6 months and obvio

That is one of the problems many will face when there is a stall in not writing regular content.

Numbers will drop as the search engines feel there is nothing going on with the website.

The good news is you can always go to your old posts revamp them to the point you can add some added content to them, let the search engines know like Google via the Google analytics with fetch as google or via Bing webmaster tools with the fetch with Bingbot

Keep writing new content and do the same with the search engines.

if you cancel your original site and start a new one and have those posts place on the new one the search engines can consider them as duplicate content so that won't be of any help for you.

As for spam, yes that won't help your ranking with the search engines.

Also go to your website then click details and ensure you have the spam blocker noted as yes that will help as well and if you have any spam comments deleted them or trash any you may have already dealt with.

I have done training on this perhaps it may be of some benefit to you as well. The best options is to just keep writing new content but the search engines love old posts that are updated and refreshed as well.

Also recheck any images you may have that may need adjusting to keep the images in check with their size

Hope this all helps you out a bit more the main thing is to keep believing in yourself and all you do and just keep going forward

Andre

thanks!

Most welcome don't' forget to like and comment on the training if you go there much appreciated.

Wishing you well

you can certainly bring it back to life. The first thing I would do is to go back and re-optimise your top five posts. Make sure you have got Google analytics installed so you know where people are arriving and leaving from your site.
The spam I take it is comments. Just ditch them and delete them.

Start writing immediately and carry on in a consistent pattern. It doesn't matter whether you write one article a week or one article a month whatever you do do it consistently.

Best of luck

thanks!

I’m confused as how I should be including keywords for my posts. Should I be using the keyword option on the all in one seo plugin or the tag box on the right hand side

Your chosen keywords go in your individual post URL, Title, Description, Keywords (comma separated),

heading of post content, possible first paragraph, towards the end of your post.

Tags ( right side bar of editing page). Think of tags just as you would use #hashtags in Instagram or Twitter. They are search terms you assign to your post. So if you have a few posts with the tag #redhats, if you were to do a search for that term, all the posts with that same tag should show up.

Having said that, yes there are cases where tags can get picked up by search engines and you can use keywords as some of your tags.

Another opinion is to not display tags on your page because it is a clickable element that can distract users, they could click on the tag and move away from that specific page which was design to get users to click on something else (e.g affiliate link or opt in form)

Also, TAGS could create duplicate content. For example if you only have one post under a specific TAG, the Tag page and the post will show same/duplicate content. So if your site is new and does not have a lot posts, do not use Tags for now... later on you can start using a few tags

Thanks!! This helps!!! Most of my posts refer to the program that I market so is it ok to use say the tag that is the name of the program for multiple posts as long as it relates?

you could do.

you could also click the option (SEO plug in settings) to not index the TAGs, so you should not be at risk of duplicate content...

or you can try just using TAGs then see how it goes

should I be using H1 tags in all of my posts with the keyword that I am targeting? I typically don't use them unless I am doing a review but have read that I should in terms o

I use H2 for major subheadings and H3 for minor subheadings.

I use the H2

No, H1 is the default setting for your title, H2 once for your keyword phrase and H3 for other headings

Thanks Loes! Do you include the H2 right at the beginning of your post... I would assume?

After the intro, otherwise, you get at first the title, followed up by the H2, 2 similar sentences.
So:
Title

intro
perhaps an image
H2

You can choose between H3-H6 for the other headings, Kyle recommands H3

Thank you... this helps a lot!

Hi Loes,

As I am going through Bootcamp (and I heard a lot was updated recently), in Bootcamp we are supposed to use H3 and H4 headers as it will read much better for your audience....

So I am in the middle of updating all of my content.....

Any suggestions? :))

I use H1 for the title, and when it's appropriate an H2 for a heading with the keyword phrase, but not always.
Sometimes my keyword phrase is used halfway down the article, and I don't like a big H2 tag line there.
Further, I use either h3 or H4, but always just one of the 2 on my blogs, I love unity, I do not use them randomly.

My theme uses H1 by default and has a mega title which I cannot influence as it is part of the theme itself. In the Bootcamp Kyle shows on hand of content writing why H3 and H4 better are and gives advice how to write the content the best way. In the Basic training I cannot remember he mentioned that there anywhere, I thought you may know Loes. :))

Isn't it possible to change the measures of the H tags in your customize site section?

Kyle recommends working on one site until it starts making money.

That might not be a smart idea.

What happens if the selected niche is just too broad and the first site never makes money?

I would think give the first site so much time (that is up to the individual) or by the time that there is a target number of posts on the website (again, up to the individual to decide), and then choose the second niche, because by then, the person would have learned a lot and hopefully selects an easier niche from the point of view of making money.

That is really up to you. But you might need some sort of outline plan on how to spend time between the two, otherwise one site might get a major part of your time... That would be ok if you planned for it.

A simple plan - Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday - one site. The other days, the other site -- Something simple. Review time plan every so often, maybe every week or every 2 weeks and adjust based on what really happens and what you want to achieve.

I would wait till your site trust is 100%. Work on the one you got like a sculptor working on a sculptured piece to perfection. Only then attempt another one.

I was eager beaver when I started, I tried two websites - I was all over the show and ended up doing nothing. I shut the second one down and now concentrate solely on the one. Don't take my word for it read what other members have to say on the matter

Richard

Hi Nathan. I only start a new site if I have a new niche or want to start something completely new like an e-commerce site. Concerning your second question, organic traffic depends on a lot of factors like keywords and your niche. You can try and revisit your posts and look them over. Do not change the titles. Have a look and see if your exact keyword appears in your first paragraph and so on.
Hope this helps a bit
Hennie

Should I be using Title description and keyword in All In One SEO? Isn't this suppose to be done for me simply by using the plugin? I am afraid that I will over optimize my s

Your preference on number of tags Nate. I use as many as 4 on WA posts!

Hi Nathan,

Yes you should be doing it my Friend.

Most times at least for me, it's just a matter of copying the original Title then using a summary for the description my Friend and make sure to place a picture as well otherwise you'll get the blue bubble guy.

Does this help Nathan?

Tony

So you just use 1 tag per post and that is the keyword phrase you use in your title?

You use as many tags as you believe are relevant to your article Nathan.

Your Title can be the same as one of your Keywords / Tags or different.

sorry got confused as to which one of my questions was getting answered lol... thanks!!

I understand Nathan, I get confused many times a day my Friend.

You are welcome and thank you,

Tony
