I want to change one of my wordpress. com websites into wordpress. org website and host it here on w
I have a WordPress. com website which I started more than a year ago. Now I want to move that website to WordPress. org and host it here on Wealthy Affiliate. Please, can I do
You cannot change a Domain Name.
If your website is hosted somewhere else you can easily transfer it to wealthy affiliate but if it already has a Domain name then you have to transfer it as such.
Here in WA you have a question box at the top of your screen to the left of the white WA - just type in there - how to transfer site - and you will get a few answers on how to transfer your site.
Thank you for answering my question and helping me understand. It was a free domain so I understand that it can't be transferred.
Thanks also for informing me of the question box on top beside the WA. Somehow that escaped my notice. I will type my question there to look for answers.

Yes, I was able to find it, right at the top left. It's reassuring that I can just type my question into that box to seek answers. Thank you.

if your site is on a domain you own at wordpress.com (you paid for a domain name like petfood . com) then you can host it here, or transfer it here.
if it is on a petfood . wordpress. com name then you don't own that and cannot transfer it.
what you might be able to do is to forward traffic to a new site hosted here, by adding a notification of 'see my newsite at petfood . net'.
what you may be able to do in the second instance, is to buy a domain and transfer all your information to it, then transfer that domain to wa. sounds complicated, but it is not.

It was a free domain, so I understand from what you explained that I don't own it and hence I can't host it here.
I will follow your suggestion of buying a domain and transferring all the content to it and then transferring it here.

that is right.
check with wordpress as to how you can transfer the articles over to a domain.
you can buy a doamin here (sitedomains - websites menu to the left), you could go through the first part of the training first ot make sure this is what you want.
