Have you ever wondered why are goals important?
2
You know, God gives us a free-will and everyone is free to choose what they want to become.
Free to spend their life just trying to survive, trying to manage the circumstances and building other people's dreams or to be the creator of their own life.
Unfortunately, most people are so afraid to live that they don't choose what they want, they choose what they think is safe.
When I start coaching someone I always ask them "What's your Big Dream? What's your goal? What do you want from life?" and 9 from 10 say... "I don't know" "I never thought that" "Why should I have a goal?".
So, why are goals important?
Why should you choose your goal? Most people never do that in their entire lives.
Most people think of goals as something very complicated, something that only a few, involved in some science or personal development, can understand.
In fact is really simple and I can tell you in two words: "If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there."
If you don't take the time to get really clear about exactly what it is you're trying to accomplish, then you're forever doomed to spend your life achieving the goals of those who do.
If you've been running your life in an unfocused manner, just waking up each morning and seeing what happens, then it is absolutely crucial that you take the time to decide and write down exactly where it is you want to go.
Like Earl Nightingale said: "All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press on to your destination."
The Goal-Setting Process is simple and you can do it very easy following this 10 steps:
Decide exactly what you want - Pick an area of your life - family, health, money, career - and decide what you want to improve or accomplish.
Write it down - Clear, specific, detailed and measurable, as if you were placing an order for your goal to be manufactured in a factory at a great distance.
Set a deadline - When would you like your order to be delivered? What timescale do you have in mind? Is it next week? Next month? Next year? It must be realistic. If your "order" is big, chunk it is small pieces and set a deadline for everyone. Like Mr. Ford said: "Nothing is particularly hard if you divide it into small jobs."
Identify the obstacles - Why aren’t you already at your goal? No excuses, just facts!
What resources do you already have to help you to achieve Your goal? (skills, experience, qualifications, personal qualities, talents, time, enthusiasm, money, support etc.)
What other resources will you need? What knowledge, information and skills you'll need to achieve your goal? Remember “You can learn anything you need to learn to accomplish any goal you can set for yourself.”
Who can help you? - Identify the people in your life whose help you'll require; make a list.
Make a plan and prioritize your tasks - Planning is very important - "The 20/80 Rule says
that the first 20% of time that you spend planning your goal and organizing your plan will be worth 80% of the time and effort required to achieve the goal." Plan in advance - plan each day the evening before, each week the weekend before, each month at the beginning of the month.
Develop your personal discipline - select your most important task and then work on it until is done, without distraction or diversion. What could you do to move you just one step forward right now?
Take time to relax and celebrate - you know the proverb "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" - relax and recompense yourself when you accomplish your task, enjoy every victory no matter how small.
That's it! Just follow this steps and you'll see a measurable difference in your life the very first day you establish clear, committed goals, even if your first few attempts aren't perfect.
Now, what are you going to do?
Reading this article will do absolutely nothing for you unless you turn it into some form of physical action. You only get results from the physical actions you take.
You can choose to decide that you'll make a change or you can choose just to move forward and forget about it.
The choice is yours.

Love your post, Nadina! Very informative and to the point! For me personally also goals are a way of manifestation - they help me visualize what i want to create in my life. I recently read an article about an experiment with a group of basketball players divided in two groups - one was practicing for a week , the second group not attending the court at all only visualizing getting the ball into the loop. By the end of the week the one that visualized showed even more improvement than the one just practicing. Of course, we need and vision and action, but to me it complements the goal setting. If i can not see it, how can i create it?
