WP Website Themes

I spend a long time picking a theme for my WP website. But I don't really understand the differences. I picked my theme because I wanted the 'header photo' to be taller than wide. In other words, I didn't want the header to be across the top of the website. For my header photo, I wanted to show a vase of flowers and so I needed height for my photo.

But, I realized that either I can't figure out or it doesn't have the feature to archive my blog posts. The posts just scroll down and I would like readers to be able to find the older posts.

Do I have a theme that doesn't have that feature for archiving posts? Or is there a plug-in for archiving posts?

Or will I need to look for another theme that has the ability to display the archive of past posts?

I really like my theme as it suits my niche very well, except (it seems) for the lack of displaying an archive of my posts. I would like to be able to list my posts by month/year, as I see this on many other WP websites, so viewers can easily 'click' to all my posts.

Why can't there be just ONE Word Press theme with options that we can custom made, rather than scrolling through thousands of different themes?

My website is in my WP profile, if you are interested in viewing it. My theme is: Eryn.

Anyone willing to share their thoughts or expertise on the abilities, functions and features of Word Press Themes. Thank you.

Did I hear you say Lexus or was that my imagination?

The skeleton behind themes is Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) described here: http://www.1stoptutorials.com/Ten_Reasons_To_Use_CSS.html
Word Press has to have a way of addressing "one size doesn't fit all" for your website appearance and messaging.

This is what the training is all about.........lol! If someone did create a theme with every option, it would be like trying to build a car with all the components of a car laid out in front of you......the options would fry your brain. What I did was just went through a lot of themes looking at the preview and if I like it then went live. Also when I found other things I wanted and the theme didn't have it....I looked for another one...and if I saw a theme that someone here was using and I liked it I would ask them which one they used. It might be good if you looked at all the people in your field and see what they are using....yep there is no easy answer.....when we get a chip put into our brain we could probably manifest the perfect website....I feel your frustration...

Thanks. And I get your point. Not everyone needs a mini van. And not everyone needs a sports car, either. My theme isn't exactly what I need nor want but I am happy with it. I can live with it. And I will look at other member's themes, to see if they have any thing that might suit what I want, that is better than my own theme. All the best.

You will find your rolls royce soon, it's only a matter of time!

I'm only driving a Bentley not a Rolls.

Sounds like you want an archive widget. Usually these will show up in the right sidebar.

Hi Myra, you can find the achieve you can have displayed at the footer or below the other posts, all you have to do is go to your widgets and on your left you will find achive posts.. Just drag it to where you want it to go... Now I'm not familiar with your themes, but if you go to widgets, you will see it there.. :0)
