My Traffic Has Skyrocketed! But where is it coming from?

So I'm a bit confused right now. I just recently check my Google Analytics and it's telling me that since Wednesday, I've been getting around 200 visits daily to one of my new websites. But I haven't posted it anywhere and it's not under any promotion (from what I know), so where is the traffic coming from? it says the time on my site is around 2 minutes and I don't have any new subscribers. You would think that with around these number of visits a day, someone would subscribe to my newsletter right? If I could see somehow where from online they are coming from, that could help me pinpoint and figure out why no one has signed up.

My site has reached near the top of the first page of Google, which is cool. And I'm definitely pleased with the sudden unusual increase in traffic, but I would like to know how to figure out where the people are coming from online. Thanks so much!

If they're not spam, then it's great.

I think it's spam, because I haven't even posted the site really on any social media. I was wondering if it could be possibly organic but I don't think so :/

Like already suggested, could be referral spam. This training will shed some light. There are a number of ways to address it so you may want to type in referral spam in your WA search bar and see different discussions about it. This link may help

Hi, I went through this at the beginning stages until I sorted a few things out and it was indeed spam bots

Hey, thanks I'll look into it! I think it is spam, because I haven't even posted my site anywhere. It doesn't make sense, but it did show me which cities the traffic was coming from. But if I haven't even posted my site anywhere yet, spam sounds like the best answer to me. I didn't even know you could get spam traffic.

Have you looked at the referral spam?

That's a great step forward. Congrats ))))

Would also like to know where the traffic is coming from, so I can mimic it ))

Thanks! But do you know how to use Google Analytics to see where it's coming from online, like which websites? I don't know.

It could be spam, unfortunately. I just read an article two days ago about certain links which are used to spam people's websites. The author of the article gave a short tutorial on how to block certain links (or domain addresses) from one's website.

In Google Analytics, click - Acquisition-All Traffic-Referrals and see if anything is showing up there. If it aligns with your session numbers that's your source of sudden traffic, then you have to set up filters to get rid of it.

yes , follow the steps gsm recommended. You will see if its all coming form one or tow spam websites and then you can block them. I had to do this too. Was very excited when I saw my traffic soar only to discover it wasn't real visitors at all!
