Google community for exchanging 1s and re shares. Thoughts?
So I watched Jay's video yesterday on how to use Google +, and I found his experiment on ranking posts interesting. If you haven't seen it, what he did was that he asked people in one of his circles to plus the post, and after a month it got onto the first page.
What I'm thinking is to create a google + community around this same concept. The thing with Google + is that the majority of your posts are going to be un plussed because it just seems dead to me over there in many of the communities. In the community the rules would be simple. You take 10-15 minutes of your day plussing other peoples posts so that they rank. You can just even skim them if you want, because I do know how much time it takes to read someones post and comment on it. There are only so many hours in a day. You wouldn't have to read the whole thing. You can see who's plus one your post, then go to their profile and plus one their new post. Therefore, your post is gauranteed plus ones and higher rankings.
It would be similar to the WA community where you share posts on comments, only this would be a Google + community who just want to help each other's posts get ranked by plus 1ing or re sharing. You would obviously have to take outside time to find people interested in your niche if you're using google + to promote your services or products, but the point of this community is to help each other post's rank. The ideal would be to get at least +10s per post. The more +1s, the higher the ranking! It's completely for free (obviously), and all you need is a 10-15 per day time investment to your social schedule.
I hope this idea doesn't offend anyone (if for some reason it does.) But I don't see why it would, because I think it could genuinely help out. Let me know if this is something that interests anyone, or if anyone else would be interesting in starting a community like this. I would certainly be a part of it!

It would have to be a big group. if it was a small group, Google might catch on. If a small group of people all +1 each others posts then it looks suspicious.
My advice is to generally try to stay away from any kind of tricks. Google always catches up to them in the long run. For example, several years ago everyone was going out and getting fake backlinks because it improved their rankings in the SERPs. Google eventually caught up to this and now that tactic no longer works so well.
Best to focus on creating high-quality content, since that's what Google is actually looking for.
Hey, thanks for your feedback. Other people do seem interested, but I certainly wouldn't want to get in trouble for it. It was a clever idea! But it would have to be a big group like you said. I think it's better to just post on Google plus and let the ranking to its thing.
I look at it the same as creating a group on Facebook. Except google+ might help you rank better. You have to grow it if you want it to work. It'll take time, and engaging people. The reward? Don't know. Would have to answer that after you did it. Good luck. Geoff.
You really think so? It's just an idea and I'm sure how well it would work. It takes time setting up a community and I'm not sure if it would be a success or failure. But do you really think people at WA would be up for something like this? I don't think anything else like this exists.
