Alibaba, the Chinese biggest e-commerce company pocketed US$17.79 billion (120.7 billion yuan ) during 24-hour online shopping craze. The Chinese made up holiday which falls on 11/11 (November) is a mega online shopping event that gets hundreds of millions of people to purchase online.

The main story is not that 120.000 payment transactions were processed per second by Alibaba's online payment system on Nov 11th. Neither that 175.000 orders were processed per second by Alibaba cloud at peak moments.
