To Celebrate a Principled Man
In the USA, the 3rd Monday of January is a holiday to honor the great achievements of Martin Luther King, Jr. He is the most influential of African-American Civil Rights leaders during the 1960s,a Baptist minister, who advocated the use of non-violent means to end racial segregation.
Martin Luther King was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace in 1964.
MLK's famous speech, "I Have a Dream", before a crowd of more than 250,000 people in Washington D. C, on August 28, 1953, was instrumental in the passage of Civil Rights Act of 1964, that called an end to racial discrimination in public accommodation, facilities, and employment in the United States, and the Voting Rights Act of 1964.
MLK's triumphant deliverance of his "Our God Is Marching On", on March 25, 1965, that was focused on fighting for economic equality, was delivered after the historic marches from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama.
Dr. Martin Luther King 's fundamental philosophy of nonviolence got his inspiration from Jesus Christ, as he is a Baptist minister, preaching Jesus Christ's gospel before the start of his mission to end racial inequality.
He was assassinated on April 4, 1968, while standing outside his second-floor room at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee.

Thanks for sharing Maria. His Jesus inspired message of Love, Equality, Unity and Non-Violence is a way of life that should be embraced by all cultures, not just here in the U.S.
Too often people hear the message but don't act on it or they act on it and when adversity arises they stop to follow the crowd so as not to look like an activist. The Parable of the Sower is a perfect example.
But all it takes is strength to do that which you know is right in the sight of God and stand fast despite all the naysayers. βBlessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of Godβ
Hello Maria, I hope your day is well today. Growing up in Memphis, those were strange times.
I was 13 years old when he was assassinated, and I will never forget those terrible days after.
Dr. King had a vision. No doubt he spoke then about issues happening today with all the hatred and meanness, and lust for power that is happening today.
He was intelligent and brave because the South was filled with meanness then.
Through his efforts, the world changed for the better. We Have a way to go, but I think we will get there eventually.
Chet
Hi, Chet.
Assignation when broken down is "Ass" in a "Nation."
I can't write here in WA my actual thoughts.
We all have a vision. We speak about issues that are happening today.
There is much hatred, and many people are mean. You are correct that there is a lust for power.
The South, and The North.
Emancipation.
I'm not sure what the years were.
You were 13 in 1968.
I was not born until 1969.
May we all live long and prosper.
Peace, love, and, light from Canada.
Paul.
Very complicated.
Fighting for principles in a democratic society.
Almost an oxymoron.
You take care.
Your friend from Canada.
Paul.
Peace, love, and, light sent your way always.
Live long and prosper.
You are from a special mold.
Paul from Canada.

A nice write up on a great man. I just replied to another post on him, so won't regurgitate what I said there.
I find it telling that most folks who advocate for love, peace and respect and gain any following at all are usually imprisoned or met with violence. A sad testament to the mindset of so many.
Regards,
Jason
Beautifully scripted, Maria
Absolutely, my friendπ
