dealing with credit card companies

Grrr, I hate dealing with these… credit cards… I wish I didn't have debts, but I do. And it's all mine… So I get this "invitation" to apply for 0% for 18mos. Oh yea, I think I will go ahead and apply and transfer my current balance… Go through the process and get approved! ….and found out, oh no Ma'am, you can't transfer the balance from the same company… I like Citibank…but I now know I can't transfer to another 0% account…shoot, Ok, now I try someone else… Capitalone. I actually have a card with them but not used, so why not?

I went through an on-line approval process…. it was easy! yes! approved! Higher available credit too! Great! So I was about to transfer all the balance from the higher interest account.

I saw "Congratulations! you're approved!", also saw "would you like to link this account to the existing on-line account you have?" So I clicked yes and it took me to my current log in. Nothing…. It doesn't show anything about my new credit card account. hmm? strange…

So I called the customer service. Normally, these account service people are pretty nice. I am a customer after all. They should be nice! I pay my bills, not ever late either.

Anyway, on-line banking tech comes on, I explained what happened. So here went our conversation:

Customer service: "well, since you have not received your card yet... you just applied, correct? you won't see your new card there."

Me: "ok, I understand that, but when I applied, and got approved, it gave me an option to log in or create a new log in…why would it give me an option if it wasn't going to link my new card with my current one?"

Customer service: (..pause….) "Well, you have to have an account number to link your current account anyway."

Me: "I understand that. But why would it (website) give me an option (to link my current account with the new) if it wasn't even an option at this time?"

customer service: "Well, of course, it's always an option."

Me: "but it's not an option at this time, is it? I have to have a card in order to link.."

customer service: "Of course, it's always an option. You just have to have the card to link."

Me: "Ok, so the bottom line is I have to have a card on-hand to link my current account on-line with the new, correct?"

Customer service: "Yes, that's correct."

At this point, I was irritated and just thought "then why would it even give me an option there?". It was pretty obvious this customer service rep was irritated as well. It was NOT a pleasant ending though he said "Thank you for calling Capitalone, have a good night." It was pretty mechanical greeting ….GRRRR, Now I remember why I paid off my capitalone credit card before really quickly…. I DID NOT like their customer service!

I haven't transferred my other balance. I may have to shop around…. Does anyone know any good credit card that's offering 0% promotion with rewards???

0% interest and rewards is dangerous.. all im sayin. D-A-N-G-E-R-O-U-S

Thank you for the comment. Yes! I know it's dangerous! I know Credit Cards are dangerous…but sometimes necessary. I'm trying hard to pay off as fast as I can! so I can start paying myself soon! lol

youre more likely to find 0% by avoiding those rewards cards
those rewards have to come from somewhere

see if you can do a consolidation loan from your local bank or cvredit union. this will buy you time on avoiding the interest, and youll likely secure a MUCH lower rate than a credit card
