Impatience is Not a Virtue

I was so excited to begin my association here at WA. I joined last November in 2017 and dove right in.

I found a niche and built a site, hurriedly I wanted success and traffic and likes and comments....

...It didn't quite happen that way. the first site I built although something I am interested in was not a passion of mine. I got caught in the trap of wanting to succeed quickly and I found a niche which I assumed would draw people in. That is where I began to look deeper and was unhappy with the result. Unhappy not because it was awful or could not draw in viewers, it was because it was not a passion of mine. When looking for a niche do something you are passionate about and it will seem natural and be fulfilling to yourself.

My second site has content which I am passionate about, this makes a huge difference for me personally in my own engagement. I am completely new to building websites and I tend to experiment a fair bit to get the look that I want. For me this is part of the fun. I created pages on social media where I can share my content and have had some organic results because of my efforts. I keep on hoping to get some followers and start a community and so far this has not happened or even show any signs of happening.

I am committed to this because of my passion and constantly assert that I must be patient and keep trying to do the best job that I can and hopefully create content and resource which others may also enjoy. I believe that I started to get ahead of myself within WA and need to concentrate on the lessons provided and engage more with the community. Impatient me wants it to work now, the way I envision, practical me knows that I need to put in the work in order to succeed.

Having grounded myself, I start anew with a refreshed commitment to complete the certification courses and engage more in the WA community. Some other things which I committed to doing are completing some writing courses which I signed up for as well as a course to learn Wordpress in more depth and a beginners course in coding.

Good luck to all, and I should have some more blog posts in the future, to try out the skills I will learn from my courses.

Cheers, Mark
