I Joined My First Telescope Affiliate Program!
My Fear
For awhile now, I was afraid to join a website's affiliate program for telescopes because I was afraid I would be rejected because my website is so small. I felt mentally stuck and like I could not progress. This went on for awhile. I probably falsely assumed that most affiliate programs would reject you if you don't have much traffic yet.
Facing My Fear
Today I chose to face my fear and just join one. This affiliate program is for a telescope company called Levenhuk that makes inexpensive telescopes, but they give 20% commissions. Later I plan to join affiliate programs for more expensive telescope brands such as the Orion Telescope affiliate program, but now I am happy to know I overcame a fear and joined one. Now I feel I can progress on my website.

I was at an astronomy event in my hometown. While there I asked some of the leaders there about information on buying my own first telescope. The next day it occurred to me that I can make one of my niche sites be about telescopes. I'm inexperienced with telescopes, but I've always loved studying outer space since I was a kid. That's why I believe this is a good niche for me. I'm learning as I go.

That's great, congrats Matthew! Once you get a bit more content on your site, you can join many other programs as well.
Here's the truth - some merchants will accept you and others won't, often for non-sensical reasons. But here's the secret - there are always plenty of other merchants you can work with. You can find the products on different shopping sites that have affiliate programs. There are so many other options. So don't ever let a "no" stop you. Getting declined by a merchant doesn't follow you your whole life. It doesn't stop you from getting approved into other programs. Just say "okay" and move on.
