Three And A Half Months Into Wealthy Affiliate Marketing…

On May 1st, 2025, I took the leap. I joined Wealthy Affiliate.
That’s right — this year. Not “back in the golden days of dial-up” or “when MySpace was cool.” This year.

When I started, I knew a little bit about computers — by which I mean I could turn one on without calling my nephew. Affiliate marketing? No clue. I thought it might be some kind of dating service for lonely products.

Fast forward three and a half months… and have I made any sales?
Nope. Not a single one. My affiliate dashboard is emptier than my fridge after a long work week.

But oh, the things I’ve learned. I can now:

• Write a blog post (and even remember to hit “publish” instead of “save draft” by accident).
• Use artificial intelligence — aka, my robot co-worker who never takes lunch breaks or judges my typos.
• Make banners and logos that only occasionally look like they were designed in Microsoft Paint circa 1998.
• Do marketing — well, I’ve learned that marketing exists, which is step one, right?
• And the big one: I discovered SEO. Who knew? Apparently everyone except me. It’s like finding out there’s been a secret handshake in business this whole time, and I’ve been waving like a tourist. Seriously — there are 12-year-olds out there ranking websites higher than mine, and I’m just over here learning what a “meta description” is.

All this while holding down a full-time job — 12 hours a day, 5 days a week. That’s right, I’m learning how to be an online entrepreneur in the tiny gaps between working, sleeping, and wondering if I can live entirely off caffeine and sarcasm.

Oh, and I’m about to turn 62. Whoever said “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” clearly never saw me Googling “how to optimize alt text” at 3 AM.

So no, I haven’t made any money yet. But I’m having the time of my life learning — and when that first sale finally comes in (even if it’s 37 cents), you better believe I’m celebrating. Probably with cake. Or champagne. Or both.

And... you better believe I’m gonna frame that screenshot!
