Fresh Reflection
Went to the funeral of a church friend today. The lady in her 40's leaves behind her committed husband of 20 years and her two teenaged daughters. In hearing about her life as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend and colleague the attributes that were pinpointed were remarkable. Joyful, purposeful, happy, positive, cheerful, sense of humour, loving, caring, nurturer, motivator, can do attitude these were some of the words and so much more that were used to describe her. Even in the midst of such sadness a wonderful reflection of a human being expelling the best they can be for their time on this earth and leaving a legacy of their character worth remembering was a great comfort. What struck me most however were the many testimonies reporting of periods in her life when she was going through great struggle and battling the big C. When she was undergoing treatments, hospital visits, waiting on results, suffering. She didn't however turn and hide, feel sorry for herself or give up but what she did was love, encouraged, motivated, pioneered, spread cheer, and lived life to the fullest the best way that was possible .It was said that even the medical staff would escape to her room from the heavy burdens of their shift to find solace. Now that is saying something right!! She lived a life full of hope, faith and belief. Most importantly however was her dedication and love of God. She lived a life forever seeking him and knew without a doubt how much he loved her. In the midst of everything she never doubted once. I write this because no matter what we are going through, and many of us are facing tremendous struggles, a decision has to be made. Are you going to allow this "thing" whatever "it" is to take over the very core of who you are or, regardless of "it" are you living through, making the best of it and trying to take control?. How are you mastering your current struggle or situation. How are you allowing "it" to define you and your everyday life!! As the saying goes - Life is not a rehearsal we only get one shot. Maybe WA is this "one shot". Go for it best you can and be blessed my WA community.

When I am getting ready to go I hope I have a friend such as yourself who will think of me like this and put purpose into what I had done in life so it will make my passing a littler easier. Time is not short only life is.
Thank you rushmore and I am positive that when that time does come lets hope not for a good many many many more years yet that your loved ones will have remarkable things to say about you.
