Hi folks,
my first blog since ages! ^^
This is mainly for people who are just starting out or those who have been rejected by companies they wanted to work with as an affiliate partner.
Like most of us, I started as an affiliate partner of Amazon, which is great! I still am a partner of Amazon, but do recommend to look for other partners, too.

The thing is, that with most other companies, it is not that easy to get accepted. Amazon is by far the easiest one.
All you need is a website with only a few pages and posts. Then they give you 6 months to get a sale. After your first sale you are accepted and don't need to worry about anything anymore.
Well, you still have to stick to their rules, or they might check your site and kick you out, if you break one of their rules.
If you want to partner with other companies, you usually need a bigger site, with way more traffic.
When I was only a few months in the business, I decided to look for a second partner. I am in the archery niche, so I looked up companies with an affiliate program, and found Cabela's.
I think most people, who like hunting and the outdoors, know Cabela's.
Fresh as I was, I sent them my application and got recected within a day!
No real reasons given, just a "No, thank you!".
At that time, I had around 200-300 visitors each month with hardly any clicks or sales. No wonder I got rejected.

Fast forward to now:
This Monday, I decided to give it another shot.
My site gets around 3000 visitors every month with 200-300 clicks and a conversion rate of 10-20%. (20% is an execption, though^^)
Cabela's accepted my application within 24 hours!
While their affiliate program is not the best, I am sure that their good name will bring me some additional sales.
I will still keep using Amazon on my site, but don't have to depend only on them anymore.
So, my friends:
If you get rejected, don't give up easily. Analyze your site and try to figure out why you have been rejected.
Companies want to be affiliated with sites, that have a certain amount of traffic and click through rates (CTRs).
Keep following the training here at WA, don't try shortcuts!
Hard work will lead to success.
Yours,
Moritz
