My progress after 3 months or so
1. I just made my site mobile friendly with a different theme. It's a bit different than my old site, which was a bit easier to read. The top menu seems a bit too small, but if that's the price to pay for mobile-friendliness, I'll live with it.
2. I've been through all the training now: course five lesson 10. If there are more courses, please let me know.
3. I just found the site health stats and found out that you need to use less than five plugins. Which are the best to use, in your opinion?
4. What concerned me was that I had a 0% when it came to interacting with my users. I always reply to any comments, so I don't understand this. I'm still at "site health is getting better".
5. I write a new post perhaps three times a week. I can probably make it five times a week and will probably do so now since I have been through all the training materials.
6. I get a lot of followers on google+, pInterest, and Twitter. I follow most of them back. In anyone's opinion, does following someone with a lot of followers expose your site to a lot more people? Some people that take the initiative to follow me don't seem to have any interest in golf.
7. I have webmaster tools and that other one. So far, I get about 10 visitors per day with most staying a minute or so on the site. They probably read one post or article and then leave.
8. No affiliate sales as yet, but that's OK since the main reason I'm doing this is to help other golfers like myself.
Please let me know what you think of my site, which is at http://shortgameprowess.com
You can leave comments within a post/article if you wish.
By the way, I've just starting to receive advertising from places that say they will send you targeted visitors. One sent me her pitch as a comment to one of my posts! I trashed the comment, since it had nothing to do with the post. Has anyone else received these solicitations?
Thanks.
John

Hi Moosit,
You should be able to adjust the header size with some CSS padding and/or margins.
With regards to increasing your followers, I believe that it does increase the scope for more people to see your posts. The more people that follow you on G+ for example, the more people will see it in circles and communities (if you use those).
I receive a lot of spam comments such as the ones that you mentioned. You can use Akismet to stop these.
good work,nice site!
