How to Add the Privacy Policy as a Widget on the sidebar

Since I can't create any training before I complete 3 months as a premium member, I thought I'd share a training here.

I've been struggling for weeks to have the privacy policy as a link or a clickable featured image on the sidebar instead of a page on the main menu. Finally I figured it out.

Each one of us has a plugin installed by default by WA called 'Exclude Pages from Navigation'. Create a page called Privacy Policy. Scroll down the page, and under Exclude Pages, uncheck 'include this page in lists of pages'. Above it, you can add a featured image, that's what I did. After you are done with that, click on Publish.

Go to your widgets and add a widget called 'Feature a Page". This widget came automatically with my paid theme, not sure if you can install it as a plugin but try. Add the title "Privacy Policy", select 'Featured Image', select the layout you want (I selected big image), and under show page element, I selected 'Featured Image', then save. It will show on the sidebar as a clickable image that will take your visitors to your hidden page from the menu.

I hope this was helpful to some of you and I would love to hear your feedback.

Thanks.

I just gave this a try and had to come back and let you know it worked and I am so grateful. I'd been trying to put my PP in a widget at the bottom and couldn't figure it out. So thank you so much. :)

You are very welcome Judy :)

Very clever solution Mona! I am proud of you!

Thank you Loes :)

Hi Mona, that's a smart way to add privacy policy with featured image. Alternatively, you can use a text widget to di that. Create a new draft post, then insert the image you want to link to your privacy policy page. Then, open the image attribute. There will be option to link it to custom URL, insert your link to privacy policy page here. Optional: add a text 'privacy policy' below the image, and again, insert link to your privacy policy page.
Now, switch to text editor (not visual editor), and copy the whole text there.
Now go to your widget, sidebar, and add a new text widget. Now paste the text that you have copied previously. Finally save your work. It's done.
Let me know if it sounds complicated for you. But basically almost anything that you want to show in your sidebar can be done this way, e.g. List of popular post using its featured image, etc.

Thank you Fifariana. I tried the text widget tens of times but I was never successful. I did everything you mentioned here so I used different widgets for everything on my sidebar. I'll try again the steps you mentioned. I must have missed something or done something wrong. Thank you very much :)

That's a selfie widget :))) MasterEd, love it!

Thank you Loes. Love it too :)
