Ranked on page 1 and 2 on Google! but still confused about keywords

I've been very excited to see my website get to page 1 and 2 on google but I'm still confused. I get different results using the keyword tool in WA from when I use google directly. If I type in my target keyword phrase in google, I'm nowhere to be seen but if I put it into the keyword tool, there I am on page 1 or 2. I do get the same page 1 or 2 result directly in google if I put quotation marks around the keyword phrase but I dont image people do that when they are searching for something. Anyone else have the same problem?
