Quick question
Am I allowed to post a blog about allowing people to add links from their sites on my site? I have a blog post written but I don't want to put it up if it's not allowed. The thought is to help other WA members by possibly giving them traffic and sending some of my readers their way. Thanks!

My advice is not to try and "cheat" the system and stay away from link farming all together. I know your looking to help people but you would actually do the reverse in my way of thinking.

Comment on others that are in the same niche area you are on and they usually comment back tp legit site .
This is current info on backlinking

I would say it depends on the context. I wrote a post about legitimate ways single moms can make extra money. One was secret shopping. We have a member who has a site explaining the ins and outs of it so I included a link to her site.
I don't see how I would be penalized for that.
As with adding any links - I would just not go overboard.
Angela,
What I had in mind was linking some sites here from WA that pertained to new parents. Your single mom site was one I thought about. I've already asked another member and I'm going to link to hers. If I kept it at a minimum, say five to ten sites, do you think that would be considered "link farming"?
I'm not sure about link framing but I think I know someone you could ask and get answers that will ease your mind. I'll PM you.
There's a potential problem with sharing links between WA members' sites. Since many, if not most, of our WA sites are hosted on the same servers, the search engines could see those interconnected sites on the same servers as an attempt to "game" the search rankings with a "link farm".
From moz.com:
"Back in the day, building your own network of sites designed to link to each other and build link popularity was an easy way to help boost your rankings. Nowadays though, link farming is an almost surefire way to get yourself into some big trouble with the engines.
Watch this week's Whiteboard Friday to learn why link farming is a bad idea, and how the engines are so quick to identify it."

That makes sense. I didn't even think about being on the same server being an issue. Thank you for this information!
I'd just hate to see people's sites getting penalized for what, on the surface, sounds like a very good idea. So many people have abused the linking process for ratings over the years that the search engines have caught on.
I think Bob explained it pretty well. It never occurred to me that being on the same server could cause it to be a problem. That's why I ask the questions :)

I don't think that would be acceptable.
