Hi.

Well, it's been about a year - 12 months - since I started this. I gave myself up to a year to succeed. Before I can even determine whether I've been successful or not depends on how I define success. To put it bluntly, I had expected that by now I would actually be earning some dough. I'm not.

Is that the only criterion of success? Well, no. I accomplished a helluva a lot - for me! I'd pretty much gone through the rest of my life - with a few exceptions - never actually completing anything. So, I stuck it out. And I was able to find my true calling: writing. Not that I didn't already know that, in a general way; I just hadn't been able to complete anything in that line. I'd start and I'd get lost and stop, then pick up another story idea, get halfway thru and then drop that.

Hm. Well, one thing I learned here is self-discipline. And I learned a lot about my natural abilities. I learned how to write well using this WA platform, so yeah, I succeeded at that. I'm more dedicated than ever to being a writer.

I've made connections here with people who have helped me when the going got tough. I'm just not sure if the going isn’t getting too tough right now. I'm running out of money, time, and my persistence and determination are waning.

Problem is the rest of my site. I've written blogs about my favorite subject, pulp fiction stories and movies in the Noir genre.

Great! Trouble is it's a niche I can't seem to monetize, despite all the effort I've put in.

Well, I haven't tried everything yet. I've just started using social media, but even there, I'm kinda lost. I've got nothing to sell but myself! I'm confused.

My big question is, Should I go on? Do I have the stamina to go on? I'm honestly not sure. I'm at a crossroads, and I'm really beginning to fade.

Should I find another way?

Don't know.

Hi Everyone. I want to thank all of you from bringing me back form the brink. I guess that what friends are all about. Thanks for caring and for submitting all these great replies!

Hi Mike, I'm only 2 months old with WA but do believe if you focus more of your intent into your passion, (the writing side of it) and stop worrying about the money, the money will eventually come. That way you will reduce your stress and actually enjoy more of the journey. It's great that you have found your calling, writing and been able to develop your skills. I am doing the same.
I wish you all the best,
Andrew

Only you know if you have the stamina to continue, but it looks to me as if you have some options to consider:
1- you stick to your niche you have been working on. You will have to analyze if you are having traffic, are people finding your site and reading your posts? if people are reading your content and yet they are not buying anything from your site maybe you have to work on how you are presenting products.
2- use the content you already have to change or expand your niche
3-change everything and start from scratch. This will require a lot more work but, as you mentioned, you have learned a lot so you can grow something faster.

If you really love your niche I would say make an analysis of what is going on, maybe you can fix it. Not making money is just a consequence and you need to determine the root of the problem.

4- Keep working on what you have and start a new niche at the same time

If you are struggling with money and you are confident in your writing abilities you can find jobs as content writer!

This is just what came to my mind just now, I hope it helps!

Hi Mike...I've been part of WA for a little over a year and I'm like the dog that has a tight hold of a pantleg. I'm not going anywhere. I'm here to build a successful business and I know that to do it right it takes time, energy, and patience. So, I intend to work at it and to ask questions of the experts around here until I succeed. :)

All the best to you!
Colleen

I think that maybe a new direction or another niche may help. But as has already been said only you can determine that and it would be a shame to throw away a year of investing your time and effort. Best of luck on your decision😊

@MJL71, it strikes me as a waste of your year of efforts if you give up on it now. I think that it is difficult if you are not making money yet in your niche. Perhaps trying a different niche where you want to learn that information. That is what I am doing.
