I don't know how many people have come on here looking to market their music, but I figured even if I'm not the first person to do so, it's a pretty brilliant idea.
Anyway, my site is michaelsmadmusic.com, and I'm hoping to market myself as a folk/rock artist sort of in the footsteps of Tom Petty, or Jack White.
My goal is to be able to make a living from a combination of internet marketing, and music. It's a pretty ambitious ideal, but in the end it should be absolutely worth it. I'm hoping to show my progress with this blog as I go along, and maybe, just maybe, I can share what I've learned.
So, follow me to learn more, and I hope to learn from everyone here as well.

You have a niche that you can branch out in several directions from. While there is the potential for selling your own music, there are lots of other musical items you can sell.
"How to Play" books, magazines, and music/guitar themed teeshirts, jewelry, coffee mugs, greeting cards are the first that popped into my mind. Plus you can review guitar brands, makes and models and demonstrate what you like and dislike about them. You could approach a local music store and ask them to let you video yourself playing their guitars. As your popularity grows, so will theirs. That's win-win.
You can also review the CDs you personally like - talk about the bands, what they are doing, where they are performing and provide links so that they can buy CDs.
The music niche is evergreen in that there will always be people who are focused on it, and the more useful and interesting and relevant content, the more likely it will be that people will follow you and buy when you share your likes with them.
