How I Established a Consistent Writing Routine

Today marks day 28 of a 30 day challenge I made with my accountability partner to publish every day. We agreed that 500 words would be the minimum, and it has been a liberating and exciting time.

Not only am I sharing my articles with people I care about, I know I am setting the foundation for a habit that will compound. You see, in my reflection on why Einstein, a man who studied energy, would comment on compound interest, I realized it was an invisible law driving everything.

Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it. He who doesn't, pays it. - Albert Einstein

This revelation that EVERYTHING COMPOUNDS coincided with going through the 31-Day Money Challenge with Rob Berger of Doughroller.net. I've been in the place where I had a sudden windfall of cash from a settlement and spent it all in a couple of months. So, I've resolved to do things differently.

Mounting debts

I also realize that every day I am not working hard, my student loans are compunding for this glorious piece of paper that has not landed me my dream job. Thanks to the calculators that Rob Berger provided to podcast listeners. I learned that I could pay of my student loan debt in about 47 years if I started now at a thousand a month. Kinda sobering.

Productivity Routines to Get There

Two things are working for me right now as I also work through the book the Power of Habit, (a book that could also be called how Proctor & Gamble took over the world). It teaches the science of forming new habits. Rewards are required. I've learned that sharing my progress is very rewarding for me.

1) Power Hour - working hour by hour with an accountability partner - setting a timer and a specific task and checking end (by voice call) at the end of the hour. Shared by Michael Simmons. He calls it the "Getting Stuff Done Call."

2) 30 Day Challenges for reaching new heights in all areas. Commiting to do something for 90 days is hard for me to do, but 30 days flies by so fast. I can do 30.

Hi WA Family. Would any of you like to join me for a 30 day challenge to form a new productive habits? You choose.

Great idea. what do you have in mind?

I will be continuing to do a 30 day writing challenges with my accountability partner, and you're welcome to join us in that, but I really would like you to choose something you have wanted to do but have put off.
