Advice Needed-When Your Comment Is Faked

This is the first time I faced such a thing and perhaps I'm overreacting it, but, honestly, I don't think so.

Very shortly, I do my best to leave good, relevant comments whenever I comment an article. I do put in the effort to read through carefully, understand and correlate with the content.

So did I this time, as well, when commenting on a fellow member's site. I ran into the site again, and saw my avatar with a completely replaced comment. Not only edited a bit, but a completely different one. Something I never said, nor could I have, as it makes me being something-someone I'm definitely not. What's even worse, if anyone clicks on the avatar and gets to my site, It will make me look like a complete liar.

So, advise me please, what to do? What would you do? Or what have you done, if it happened to you already?

Thanks a lot!

Update: Kyle said it's frustrating and he'll investigate.

I have changed a comment because it didn’t make sense. I think that is better than rejecting it

Hi, I agree, it might be in that case. But, this is a somewhat specific themed website and because of that I especially, even harder than usually, made an effort to leave a relevant, to the point comment, an example from my past. Instead of that, it appeared as if I was a specific teacher and asked for instructions on how to go on during these times.
Needless to say, I couldn't be further from being that teacher, as my site is dedicated to senior care, which I'm involved with.
Imagine someone clicking on my name, thinking I'm that specific teacher and finding a senior care website. Who does it make look dishonest?

Wow - that is pretty crazy and certainly not right. I would probably contact Kyle or Carson directly as I'm sure they would like to know about this. I don't know of a way to go back and edit or delete the modified comment yourself, but Site Support may be able to do that for you. Good luck!

Well, that's what I did at the end. Kyle replied and advised to reach out to the author first, but let him know if he needs to sort it out personally. So, it will be sorted, one way or another. ;)

Okay - I'm glad that it will be sorted.

Thank you-me too :)

Need to tell the person what he/she did, just make them aware that you know. I don't know if you could do anything at this point.

Thanks Eugene, I do not think I can do anything apart from letting her know that I strongly disagree. Hopefully, she'll either delete it, or put back the original comment.

It's a shame that people can use your good faith words and twist them around. What reason could that person have to do that?

Well, I guess to have the opportunity to raise the rating of the article in eyes of future readers and to post her e-mail address in her reply.
