Interactive Media, Visuals, Photos and Videos

Hey Guys!,

Many of you may not know me, so let me introduce myself, I'm Milly, 24 years of age and currently a senior in college majoring in Media studies. What I wanted to talk about today was my views on how important Visuals and Interactive Media are for any successful business.

No, I am not an expert lol, no I still haven't finished my web page but, this topic is something that I have been studying for the last 2 years. As all of you know, the internet and technology has become a huge part of our lives, it's almost impossible to get away from. We are now getting used to how quickly we can get information at the click of a button, we want instant gratification, we want things fast, right now! Because of this, our attention span is shortening, for my generation at least. Since our attention span is shortening, many tend to not want to read lengthy articles, we want something that we can quickly read or watch, sad reality. With things like social media, it doesn't help our attention span only helps to shorten it, things like instagram, where you only have 15 seconds to record a video, Vine I believe is 7-10 second video clips, viewers are glued to their phones and computers watching these short entertaining videos, the less effort one has to make the better. I know it sounds horrible but it is the sad truth for the youth, we are handed ipads and smart phones as young as 2years of age, as I stated before it's impossible to get away from.

Technology is only going to continually progress as you all know and that is why I am strongly pushing the idea to incorporate interactive media and visuals into your pages. What is interactive media? Interactive media is the integration of digital media including combinations of electronic text, graphics, moving images, and sound, into a structured digital computerized environment that allows people to interact with the data for appropriate purposes. Examples of interactive media is social media; twitter, Instagram, Facebook, it can also be a survey you create, a game, a quiz anything that allows the viewer to interact. What this does is involves the viewer, it's entertaining and let's them have a voice. If you have a fitness page you can create a quiz that will let the viewer know where their fitness level is and after they find out their fitness level you can give them suggestions on how to progress on their fitness level, just an idea. You can have fun with this, this is just a way to engage the viewer and challenge you to be creative!

Visuals are huge as well, as stated before, the less effort we have to make the better! Lengthy articles are great for people like me that like reading, but many don't like to read, they will type their question on youtube and get a video response to their question. Why is that? As stated its entertaining and also easier to follow things like a recipe idea, or diy skin mask, or workout routine when you can watch it and recreate it and follow instead of reading and remembering what was written. I know many of you cannot afford to buy a camera at the moment, but I suggest making an investment in a video camera or photo camera. This isn't for everyone I know but, if you don't want to create visual I strongly suggest incorporating interactive media into your web pages.

For my first page, my niche is how to care and grow natural hair, I will create videos and take pictures of how I care for my hair and my hair growth journey. I want the people that visit my page and watch my Youtube videos to connect with me on another level, I want them to trust that the information I give them is what I truly believe will work for them. I also want to be entertaining for them as well and I strongly believe I can achieve this by incorporating interactive media to my page. As stated before this isn't for everyone but I strongly encourage all of you to challenge yourself and be more creative!
