What is the world coming to?

It was pouring down raining yesterday, and I allowed some teenagers to come into my home against my teenagers wishes. These young men were soaked, I gave them dry towels, and food to eat. Attempting to show the kindness and love Jesus taught. They stole my thirteen year old son's iPhone 6s for the second time. He asked why do you feel compelled to help people who continue to take from us?

I said son we must be the light of the world we are spiritual beings having a physical experience. I called the police. They cared but not enough. I can file another insurance claim, he's had the phone less than 3 weeks. There are multiple lessons here. I became more angry like my son as I talked to the police. I wanted to press charges, I wanted to go to each of the parents houses. I watched my son morph into me and he said mom you did the right thing you should have let them in, the garage was not a decent place for them, it was ok to dry them off, feed them, and welcome them into our home. I don't really need a phone, I'm ok.

The police said he was being bullied, and that we were targeted. I'm on a path of enlightenment I send out good, high energies, I'm phenomenal to everyone that I meet, how could this happen to us again?

God, higher power why?

I ask what is this world coming to because two of the young men were in high school, my son just got promoted to 8th grade, they were playing on my son's basketball hoop, and he didn't know them personally but a friend of a friend. Reflecting back on it today, would I do it again, probably, would I be more careful probably so. It happened for a reason, I just haven't gained clarity on it yet. I do know the world is karmic so you get back what you put out.

Don't let bad people change you and your beliefs but do be careful.

While we are to be good stewards, we also need to practice discernment. With people today, there can be a danger to family and loved ones if we are too open and loving.I know it's a hard line to decide as I was a pastor for 12 years.

I applaud your righteous fortitude and courage. It's a shame we can't say too much about religion in our forums and posts here as I could write a treatise here.

You did the right thing, Millicent. We had something similar to that happen in our home when my kids were in school. After that incident, I became just a little more mindful and observant. Those teens and others like that will eventually get what they deserve. Remember....'What comes around goes around'.

I have to agree with the-Fran - you are proving to be a wonderful example of humanity and your son will be the same. Karma will sort things out for you :)

I definitely agree. things inevitably even out with improved karma.

Unfortunately, those young men have already started down a path that is predictable. But this doesn't mean they won't turn around later in life. We just have to hope and pray that it's sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, you're a shining light and good example for your son. He will be thankful for all of your love and goodness for the rest of his life. And he's going to be a very different young man for it—someone who loves to excel; someone who depends on himself and his faith; someone who is careful to trust and intuitive in sketchy situations; but who will grow into sharing the same love that you have given to him.

Many who meet and are affected by your son years from now, Millicent, will be indebted to you and the way in which you're raising him.

How awful to be taken advantage of when you are doing someone a kindness..
Bless you for doing the right thing!
David

Thanks!

Millicent, this sounds to me like a case of jealousy.
Your son got promoted to a higher grade because he is obviously intelligent and applies himself.

The inner emptiness of these so-called friends would be better filled if they were taught to use their time to achieve things in life rather than bothering others.

Some parents just don't catch on, I guess, sad but true.......

He doesn't even want to have company anymore even though this company was unwanted..

Millicent,

Your kindness and care to others is commendable, The actions of others we can't control. For the rest of their lives they will have the burden of knowing that they wronged you while you were so giving to them. I pray that they will eventually confess of their sins and make things right with you and God.

Thank you for sharing and caring,

Tony

Thanks Tony..
