There are no shortcuts.
"There are no shortcuts to any place worth going."—Beverly Sills
I like this quote - there really are no shortcuts.
On that note, remember to not revise your BIG goal because you realize how much work it will take.
The time is going to pass whether you're in 'ok' shape and complacent, OR in amazing shape and dedicated (and that can be physical-, financial-, or spiritual-shape).
In the fitness arena, 'dedicated' doesn't necessarily mean 6-pack abs - it's different for everyone, and it may simply be to feel at a 'ten' with your confidence, commitment level and completing something you've never done - it may mean completing something for the first time in your life!
Go find that picture of your* ideal physique or your ideal life and how you living in alignment can better serve those around you. Then, get clear about the specific actions you'd need to take to get there, define what your 'Big Scary Goal' truly is (notice I didn't say SAFE goal), and move forth.
Yes, it takes hard work to make a healthy body, and a healthy life, but what brings you more satisfaction - a 'what if I had' mindset, or a 'yeah, I did it' mindset?!
Rather than revise your goals because they will take work, embrace the work and celebrate yourself as you move forward each day with a champion's mindset.
