Google Fetch

Good Evening, quick question for the Google experts in the class. When I fetch my website home page (as a Post) it comes back as a redirect. When I switch it from a Post to a Page, it doesn't redirect. Why is this happening and the consequences? I understand I could change my home page to a Page, but then home page does not appear on my AMP page, only Posts appear, not Pages. How's that for a puzzler? Were you able to follow?

Thanks again,

Mike

Hi, Mike.
I have been doing on test sites only. Siterubix.
Nothing seems to matter. I reach page one all the time..
Not sure what you are asking.

Kindest regards,
Paul.

Be Happy.
Paul.

I'm still learning about Fetch as Google, so I don't have any more to offer at this time, except to search for training or comments about this in the search bar at the top of the page as well as on Google to find further assistance. I'm sure there is an answer out there somewhere.

I also have this issue. I think it is in the permalink that causes the redirect. Try what Dom says to do, Hope this helps

Ken, it was the permalink. I fixed it and when I made sure there was a / at the end of the permalink, it worked. Without the / it still redirected. Take care.

Do you mean a simple "/" at the end of an URL is all it takes to go from a redirect to completed in Fetch as Google?
Go figure. Thank you for sharing this information.
Ken

Google takes its own time and decision in crawling the fetches we put up. I have more than ten posts piled up uncrawled.

Normally, only post titles are shown as far as I know. We may want to see more information from experienced members in the field.

If it's redirecting to the correct page it should be fine. If you Google 'fetch as Google redirect' you will have more answers. Good luck!

Thank you. And may God Bless you as well!

Hi Mike,

Are you leaving the field blank to fetch the homepage?

Below the space for URL, it says, "Leave URL blank to fetch the homepage. Requests may take a few minutes to process."

I had a redirect once upon a time until I read this little direction...

For all other pages, just add the tail end of the URL to fetch.

1

Hello, yes sir left blank after the URL in both cases and it redirects on the Post and not the Page version of my home page. Thanks for trying. Take care.
Mike

I sure wish that I could help you understand this but I don't have the answers. Would be nice to know though. Good Luck
