Eclipse 2017
Eclipse August 21, 2017
Please be very careful Monday August 21, 2017 as North America and the whole world experiences a total solar eclipse.
On Monday, August 21, 2017, all of North America will be treated to an eclipse of the sun. Anyone within the path of totality can see one of nature’s most awe inspiring sights - a total solar eclipse. This path, where the moon will completely cover the sun and the sun's tenuous atmosphere - the corona - can be seen, will stretch from Salem, Oregon to Charleston, South Carolina. Observers outside this path will still see a partial solar eclipse where the moon covers part of the sun's disk. NASA created this website to provide a guide to this amazing event. Here you will find activities, events, broadcasts, and resources from NASA and our partners across the nation. https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/
PLEASE DO NOT STARE INTO THE SUN!!

Thanks Mike! When I was a youngster, my father cut a perfect hole in a piece of cardboard. Holding it in front of me, so the reflection went to the ground, I could see the eclipse without the threat of damaging my eyes :D
You're welcome Melody. Yes I remember the last one too. I looked!! LOL
Have a good one!
Mike
Mike - I have my sunblock and I'm ready to go! :-) Oh wait that won't work... Thanks for the update. It's going to be awesome!
Oh no Patrick please don't put sunscreen in your eyes...It won't work buddy!!! Lol
It is history in the making!!
I made 24 solar eclipse viewers out of shoe boxes for my students. We are going to be standing back to the sun and checking out the eclipse from that vantage point. I wanted the kids to be outside while the sky went darker to build up a cool memory for them. Thanks for the reminder about being careful!
That's way cool Kerri. Yes please make sure they are careful . I remember the last solar eclipse....I watched it!! LOL
Yes it is Mike. I hope everyone is smart enough and adult enough to be serious about this. It would would be a sad thing if even one person lost their sight or got even a little bit of damage done due to stupidity.
Just pray....

Yes I pray no one looses anything. But you know there are those who probably will say you can't tell me what to do...and guess what?
I don't get it Mike. Someone will probably attempt to drive with the eclipse glasses on!!! I intend to stay off the road and be safe, at home!!
