50 is the new 30

Hey guys, Mike here.

I’VE Just reached the end of Level 2 and so I can tick the little box that says 'create blog post within Wealthy Affiliate' I thought I'd tell you a little bit about myself and where I'm at on this zany adventure called life.

Next year, in March I turn 50. Like, what the??! I thought I’d finished my midlife crisis in my 40s, but it turns out I’m starting to think again...

What am I going to do when I grow up?

For three decades, I've been slugging it out in the mines, well radio. You can find me pushing buttons making radio imaging at a rock radio station in Sydney - Triple M. Then there's my semi-full-time gig (I’ve made that a thing) at a radio station in New Zealand called Radio Hauraki. I'm also a voice over artist with RMK Management here in Australia. And I do custom radio imaging for rock stations across the United States through Benztown Branding. Thanks to the pandemic I’ve been working 100% from home for 3 years now which allows me to balance all these gigs. Thanks Covid!

And yeah, I’m gonna be pushing to squeeze this 2nd midlife crisis in, but I’ll do it!

So what’s next?

Invent a robot that takes your dog for a walk, so you don’t have to? Not sure.

Someone mentioned affiliate marketing. I didn’t even know what it was 7 days ago.

So I went down the rabbit hole online. At first the world of online marketing felt like a jungle (Axl screams ‘you know where youu areeeeee?!) and I was ducking branches and trying not to step on any snakes. I mean, there are so many platforms out there, and some gave me creepy cult vibes. It was as if they had a secret handshake and a cult chant for every webinar and were constantly telling me how great life would be without ever explain what they are were talking about. Like hey, I’m here to get people to click on a few Amazon links for Vacuum cleaners, I’m not signing up to drink poison at your affiliate campsite in Waco!

Then, I found Wealthy Affiliate.

It’s been a breath of fresh air. Instantly met this guy named Kyle and everything was laid out so simple. What a great teacher! Explains complex stuff without making you feel like a total dunce. Reminds me of my third great teacher Miss Butler. Only I don’t have a crush on him.

BANG, I jumped straight in!

After I joined Wealthy Affiliate, I was hit with more people reaching out than I than average month from my friends on Facebook. It's like a social media platform where people want to be your friend, and everyone wants you to succeed. So thank you!

For now, I’m just dipping my toe into the world of affiliate marketing as a side hustle. Keen to learn as much as I can and get deeper and deeper into it. Who knows where it could lead? No seriously, can you tell me where it leads ha ha?

Should I postpone my test drive at the Lamborghini dealership?

My kids are all teenagers and not far off finishing high school and facing that though question… what do you want to be when you grow up? Well kids, I’m almost 50 and I still have no idea what I want to be. So let’s just go day by day, see what happens and wing it!
